I agree completely. I see all these answers about how he DID come thousands of years ago and distributed a few fish and so now we should bow in eternal gratitude. That isn't how it works.
Believers like to make absurd claims that proof would somehow deny us a "choice". No it wouldn't, it would make a choice possible. As it is, all we have is a muddled mess of BS. No choice is possible.
If free will is what god were all about, he would make his existence incontrovertable. Further, there would be no consequences to rejecting him. Then, and ONLY then, is a choice a real choice and not either muddled thinking or coersion.
He would get what he supposedly wants - voluntary followers, and everyone else would get what they want too.
Is this too complicated for an omnicient being to figure out?

I agree. If God did want us to worship him he could have made it a lot clearer.
Personally, I cannot understand why a superior being would want to be worshiped by his creatures. If he enjoys seeing people grovelling, we could only assume he suffers from some kind of personality disorder.
If I was God I would try and teach the flatterers and the grovelers a lesson. I would give each of them a different story. So I would whisper one thing in Moses' ear, something else in Buddha's ear, something else in the Pope's ear, something else in Joseph Smith's ear. Then I would fall about laughing as they all argued and fought over what I really said.
The people who actually used the brains I gave them would be saved and the rest would be sent back to try again.

Susan, Susan, Susan,
If God was reading this question I could imagine Him saying that.God has a tremendous love for you. If He thought that for one moment that appearing to you would make you love Him more He would do that. I read your question and was alittle taken a back by it.
It sounds as if you have been taught by churches that preach religion and collect money for their what nots.
Churches will tell you thing to frighten you and this makes you cleave more to them. They make you think that its them that the go between you and God.
Susan, there is nothing but the truth in the Word of God. read the King James Version not the new versions that say they have rewritten it to make it easier to understand. Stay with the KJV.
If you believe that God came in the flesh, as the Word of God Jesus Christ then by all means get into a personal relationship with Him. Leave all that church BS right where you found it and walk the path hand in hand with the Saviour of the World Jesus Christ.><>

Because the concept of "God" created by men is just pretend. "He" is make-believe, created for all the reasons you mentioned. Considering what miserable lives people used to have, can you imagine what society would have been like if people thought this was it...and after this..nothing. Noone wants to concede that death might be the end. That's a terrifying thought for many people. It's comforting to think that all you have to do is be good and endure and after you die everything will be wonderful. It's much harder to make the most of the life you're given and to be good to people just because it's the right thing to do, with or without the consequences of "hell".

God has appeared on Earth in the human form of Jesus the Christ. God wants your love.
The Old Testament is an exemplar of how God keeps his promises.
I could write volumes to you but if you don't have faith and don't study what the bible actually says the seeds won't sprout. Find some one to nourish you.

Because He's God and He chooses not to do it that way. It's His prerogative.
How is this different than meeting someone on the internet? We believe this person is real because he/she is writing to us - just as God wrote the Bible for us. We have feelings for this person of like or dislike just based on the words we read and how they make us feel. How can you have FAITH that you know the person you are writing to and have feelings of like or love for that person when you've never seen his/her face or heard his/her voice? How is that so different from God? I pray to Him. He answers in actions or a still small voice in my heart. The old-fashioned internet - prayer!

Hi - I agree. It's also like the UFO stuff you read about sometimes. If aliens from another planet and solar system actually came here now or years ago then why did they sneak around? They are so technologically advanced from us that they could have easily just orbited the planet and stuck their tongues out at us and there isn't a thing we could do about it.
Ditto for God. If doing a certain set of things is so important then why not make it clear for everybody?

God did appear. And lived among people for 33 years. People denied that he was God, and still do today.
What more do you want? For him to appear again? You have been told that God came to earth--and yet you do not believe.
If God appeared again today as he did back in year 0, he would be denied by many all over. But the next time he appears, no one will doubt. You have your opportunity now to believe or not. When he returns, your chance will be gone.

God alone is the Almighty, the Creator, the Sovereign, and the Sustainer of everything in the whole universe. He manages all affairs. He stands in need of none of His creatures, and all His creatures depend on Him for all that they need. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, and the All-Knowing. In a perfect manner, His knowledge encompasses all things, the open and the secret, and the public and the private. He knows what has happened, what will happen, and how it will happen. No affair occurs in the whole world except by His will. Whatever He wills is, and whatever He does not will is not and will never be. His will is above the will of all the creatures. He has power over all things, and He is able to do everything. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and the Most Beneficent. In one of the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad , we are told that God is more merciful to His creatures than a mother to her child.1 God is far removed from injustice and tyranny. He is All-Wise in all of His actions and decrees. If someone wants something from God, he or she can ask God directly without asking anyone else to intercede with God for him or her.
God is not Jesus, and Jesus is not God.2 Even Jesus himself rejected this. God has said in the Quran:
Indeed, they have disbelieved who have said, “God is the Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary.” The Messiah said, “Children of Israel, worship God, my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates partners in worship with God, then God has forbidden Paradise for him, and his home is the Fire (Hell). For the wrongdoers,3 there will be no helpers.” (Quran, 5:72)
God is not a trinity. God has said in the Quran:
Indeed, they disbelieve who say, “God is the third of three (in a trinity),” when there is no god but one God. If they desist not from what they say, truly, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them. Would they not rather repent to God and ask His forgiveness? For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. The Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary, was no more than a messenger... (Quran, 5:73-75)
