PRIEST ACCUSED OF MOLESTATION SAYS HE FONDLED FOLEY
GOZO, Malta (CNN) -- The priest who sources said was named by former Rep. Mark Foley as his abuser said Thursday he fondled Foley but there was never a rape.

"Once maybe I touched him or so ... but I didn't -- it's not something you call rape or penetration or anything like that, it was just fondling," Father Anthony Mercieca (prono: mer-CHEE-ah) told CNN affiliate WPTV in a phone interview from his home on the island of Gozo, near Malta in the Mediterranean Sea.

The priest told WPTV and CNN's "Paula Zahn Now" that he was having a nervous breakdown and was taking pills at the time that clouded his memory of the incident.

So now we have the "priest abuse" 'fondling' excuse and the "nervous breakdown" excuse. I don't know whether to laugh or cry, or both.

(Is this Priest telling the truth. I'm trying to imagine him remembering Foley, that'

There is defiantly no excuse for what Folly did. It’s doesn’t matter what happened to him as a child in relation to giving him a pass on what he has done. Many people suffer abuse as children and don’t turn around and abuse others. Folly still had his agency and free will, and he must be held accountable for what he has done.
The Priest is just a sick a Folly though. The priest admitted to going skinny dipping with Folly, giving him massages while naked, going to a sauna naked, as well as other perverse things. Oh, and who knows how many other boys this priest molested? You know what the real pisser is? This Sick excuse for humanity actually thinks he did nothing wrong!!!!!! He is quoted as asking “Why is Folly trying to destroy my life in my old age?” Unbelievable! Where is the Pope on this? Where are the Cardinals, and why aren’t they publicly condemning this Priest? No, they will pay for his lawyer fees, protect him, and maybe move him to a different parish, so that one day he can strike again. It makes me sick. The Catholic church also needs to be held accountable for protecting all the filthy Priests that have giving there faith a bad name.

No it is NOT an excuse.

He needs to face what he did and not try and blame others. yes it was wrong for the Priest to do that. but I know a lot of people who were abused while they Children and they would NEVER EVER do that or anything to hurt another person. Foley should grow up and stop the blame game

regrettably you are able to't be particular that some priest isn't taking the eyes of the country off of foley for some reason, yet also at the same time as no longer helping Foley in any respect, he has no longer been convicted of something unlawful, in basic terms poor moral selections when you consider that he replaced into asking 16 year old pages in DC to have sex, in DC the criminal age of concent is 16. So basicly he replaced into in basic terms asking yet another criminal age man or woman to have sex . and somewhat it sounds extra like information superhighway sex or telephone message sex when you consider that there has been no certainly sex with all of us that has even been suggested, in difficulty-free words dirty old guy making emails and telephone messages. yet when the pages were all in DC, it is somewhat no longer even unlawful. i imagine it will be, yet by technique of regulation it isn't

Celibacy is an unnatural lifestyle. It appeals to gay men with pedophile tendencies who think it will prevent them from acting on their impulses but it does not work obviously. It is no excuse for Foley who actually was on the committee to protect children from abuse. He is a hypocrite and a criminal. And there are more names that will come out. The closet door is opening wide.

NO XCUSE FOR WHAT FOLEY DID!!!
THE PRIEST THAT MOLEST ARE NOT PRIEST. THEY ARE PEDAPHILES THAT HAVE FOUND A GOOD HIDING PLACE...(SINCE THE CORRUPT ADMINISTRATION IN ROME (anytime a man does something evil and its covered up, they allow evil to reign)does nothing except give them lots of chances and never really do anything, it only attracts MORE FRICKIN' PEDOPHILES. what I don't understand is''ARE ALL CATHOLIC MOTHERS AND FATHERS STUPID CHILD-HATERS OR JUST DUMB WEAK-***,GULLIBLE IDIOTS (even Mary Jo Buttafuco woke up!These parents are non-fit to continue to go to these places of worship that F---their children!!!I'M sure they will be held accountable by Father God who woke Mary & Joseph up to run for their lives to Egypt to protect Jesus! (The Mary Jo comment was meant to enlighten these impotent parents to not have children that they are raising for sex objects for these priest. Even she realized that she wasn't going to continue to BE STUPID!!! Even though she didn't believe in divorce SHE GOT ONE!! to get AWAY FROM HER LOW-LIFE HUSBAND.

No, it's no excuse. Granted, it wasn't Foley's fault he was taken advantage of by "a man of the cloth." However, it is no excuse for what he did.

I don't believe there is an excuse for doing harm to a chid or anyone for that matter. I just cannot believe a preist of all people would feel it is ok............unreal. Also if it happened to you why would you in turn do it to a child...............just unreal!!!!!!
