toast and tea or cereal, yeah its a bad habit and only thing to do is lie there as long as you can and hopefully you will go back to sleep. or just have a drink.

Your health needs that all night fast. So when you wake up and want to eat, have a cup of herb tea or something but don't eat.
Eat nothing after about 5pm, but before 5 pm eat a meal that should sustain you through the night. To be healthy you not only need food, but you need a time when there is no food.

If I wake up hungry during the night, I make a 2 egg omelette. microwaved for speed and ease.

then back to bed. it is light enough to allow sleep to come easily yet heavy enough to remove the hunger.

a solution to this problem was ensuring that I ate enough meals during the day. start skipping meals, and have your dinner too early and you will succumb to your body's needs like you currently are.

perhaps a poached egg 30 minutes before bed will help elevate the problem without making you feel bloated.

Yes. See's candies. Seems your brain has trained you to wake up. Try to go back to sleep instead. Or not. Life is too short.

rarely do I eat anything, but if I do it is usually a banana. The potassium is great for you, it is not overabundant in calories, and it does not wake you up with stimulants.
