Who else thinks it is rude, misplaced and vagely sinister that many Christians hand out religous tracts to childeren on Halloween, who may or may not be Christian? You dont see Muslims, Pagans or Jewish people do this....

Let me eleaborate, I have never personally seen pagans, jewish or muslim people do this, and it is an honest question, why beacuse I think it is rude to do this to impressionable childeren, whom's parents dont nessicaily want them to hear what they might believe are lies or false religious ideas. It is not a complaint.

And NO Pagans DO NOT run around trying to "recruit" people to our beliefe, it is agenst the thought that the right people find the path.

It is always rude for a stranger to try to manipulate a child. Especially if it is done in a way so that the parents are unaware of this. I recall reading about a similar incident involving PETA. Animal rights activists handed out comic books to unwitting children entitled "Your Mommy Kills Bunny's!" I've seen them, they are graphic!

I think that is rude too. If Christians do not want to take part in Halloween, then do not turn on their porch lights so that the trick or treaters know not to come to their door. Where I live, the home owners who want to give out candy are instructed to turn on their front porch light. The kids are told to only go to homes where the porch light is on (as well as the other important safety rules like going out with a parent, don't eat anything you got from strangers unless your parents have inspected it and approved, etc) As for the Christians who think Halloween is so evil, I suggest they study the history of their favorite holiday, Christmas. Those brave enough to do so will find that Christmas has nothing to do with Christ and if they really believe in Christ, they won't celebrate Christmas.

Yes, it's creepy to put tracts in Halloween bags. I used to end up with some in my bag when I was a kid. Usually, it was the illustrated religious comic tracts by Jack Chick. My parents were horrified one year when I came home with an anti-Catholic tract (I come from an Italian Catholic family). They actually tried to find out who gave it to me, but I'd been to too many houses to know which one it came from. My father definitely wanted to have a few words with whoever gave me that tract.

There is no better way to reach so many at once than the young impressionable children at a time when they should be having fun. Unfortunately there are many ppl who have become such zealots in their "religion" . Keep your beliefs to yourself and I will keep mine to myself. Let me teach my own kids to think for themselves.

Hi - Again I advocate the "putting yourself in someone else's shoes test" -

If Gays or Muslims or Communists put little notes in kid's trick-or-treat candy how would those same Christians feel about that? Would they respect the exercise of Freedom of Speech?

I'm guessing ---- NO ----

I don't know if I would call it rude (unless they are the Jack Chick tracts--those are just flat out creepy), but I bet the kids are disappointed to get a pamphlet in place of candy,.

We know why they do it. They have to propagate their lie somehow. They know if they don't get kids at a young age, then the kids will grow up to garner some common sense, and realize the lie. If that happens, well, no more Cult called Christianity!

>>" Jews DO do it"<<

umm, actually no. Jews do *NOT* do that. in fact its against the rules to do so.

you come to a rabbi and say "I want to convert ot judaism" they will not say "good for you, read this, sign that, and your in" they'll say "go away" (well, maybe more politely...)

nobody who is jewish evangelizes like that.

now, Christians who deceptively claim to be jewish, under the name of "Messianics" and such, do, because they are really just evangelical christians in a really bad disguise.

maybe non-believers should teach their kids to say "satan thanks you for spreading his word!" if/when someone gives them tracts like that.

I agree it is rude and selfish and downright mean. These are children and they do not understand.

If a person thinks Halloween is sinful, then they should just turn their porch light out and just not give out anything at all.

..Halloween is weird enough. but it is crazy to have your child or any child going door to door getting candy. but it is a battle between good and evil i would rather that than some phsyco putting poison in there bags. it all depends where your at in life there are many different life styles which one is right only your maker will tell you. when we meet him
