People usually feel that they know something, when they feel they've got a pretty good handle on it, or when they see, or experience it for themselves. The problem with that is, seeing, and even experiencing things first hand, can sometimes be misleading. For instance, two people can see the same accident and have to completely different views of who is at fault. I think that knowing and believing are strictly an individuals choice. Right now I know that I'm wearing blue shorts, and a grey cut-off shirt. I also know that I'm telling you the truth about my outfit, do you know what I'm wearing, do you believe me? I know it's corny, but I just wanted to hear some different thoughts on the subject.

I believe you are wearing what you say but I admit that I don't know for sure. So believing and knowing are indeed two different things, if that is what you were saying. I also know that scientists have no axe to grind but they have been wrong sometimes. I also tend to believe scientists when it comes to such silly questions as whether or not the Sun will come up tomorrow. I don't think that this(sunrise) is really just faith on my part because it gets confirmed day after day... unlike whether or not God really exists in some kind of new dimensions along with the regular ones. ( A tad too long answer?)

You can know what you believe and you believe what you know. Somewhere along the way there has got to be the truth. In my opinion the truth is what really matters. You may know you are wearing blue shorts but what if you are unknowingly color blind? Knowing the wrong thing doesn't make it truth, neither does believing the wrong thing. Now from my point of view I don't know what you are wearing but I can either choose to believe what you say or not believe it. Believing it won't make it any more or less true. So then what really matters is the truth.

Knowing is believing... oh no wait, that is seeing is believing.
All human experience is subjective... There is no chemical reaction in your brain or electrical current that conveys the sense of self... WE are all an amalgamation of stimulations and senses... Colorblind people see the world completely different yet they are experiencing the same stimulus you are I do....
You can never truly KNOW something with 100% certainty... Or perhaps you can... who knows...
Think about this though.. as you are reading this, it is simply information passing into your brain and being filed away...and though it feels that you are making all these complicated thoughts, you are simply a collection of biological processes. You are chemical and electrical interactions... or maybe you are more than that...who knows.

There is a difference:
Knowning = Having the knowledge of issues, as in facts or understanding concepts, such as having experience of recorded memory or applying recorded tasks.
Believing = Having faith, such as believing on insticts or experiences that will produce an outcome either positive or negative depending on oneself. Remembering past issues that COULD /OR results in changes and/or following by ambitions.
To Knowing thyself is Believing oneself = William Sheackspears

Of course there is a difference between knowing and believing! Knowing- as you said - is something you are aware of, something that is a fact, atleast to you. Believing is something you Don't Know, but you "think" it is true. I'm bad at explaining things....but I hope you were able to understand my point.
You could compare it to Facts and Theories! You know Facts...You Believe Theories, until you can prove them as facts, or otherwise disprove them.

David Hume[1] showed logically that there is a great deal of belief in connecting what we think we know as facts. Though he proposed an extreme form of objectivism over two centuries ago, he demonstrated there is a lot of belief in knowing. I find it humorous that so many "believe" they "know" what is "real".

You know what you are wearing, but because you are on the Internet, we can only believe until you come over to our house, then we can know also.

without faith it is impossible to please GOD...you need Faith for anything that you can't see..You are confusing OPINION with KNOWING...EVERYONE THAT SAW THE ACCIDENT KNEW THAT THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT....IF STEVIE WONDER WERE THERE, HE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE FAITH THAT THE SOUNDS WERE AN ACCIDENT. You don't have to see to believe, thats where faith comes in, however, you do have to have evidence to KNOW. There is a difference. Since we have never seen GOD we have to believe that HE IS, it is impossible to believe without FAITH

To know means that you can back up a belief with evidence, facts and substantiation. Belief is totally on faith alone.
