Ok, I am non-denominational. In our beliefs, we women are not to cut our hair, wear makeup or pants or anything pertaining to a man. By cutting your hair you are given into the latest trends, right? And wearing makeup is just something of the world and when you truly got the HOLY GHOST you have no desire to be like the world. I know some have told me that it's just stupid to not cut your hair because it's a part of grooming. In my religion, it is used to cover the body. As well as skirts and dresses are to cover the body. Do you agree or disagree with these teachings? Do you agree with the rest of the world and truly think it's ok to do the things that they do?

You need to turn to God and not other people when it comes to choices like these. I do say choice. People are quick to say something isn't in the Bible, but fail to read it.
When it comes to the hair and not wearing anything that pertaineth to a man. That is you personal relationship with God. (how old are you?
I came from a very non-christian home and came to Christianity on my own. I have decided for myself that that is the kind of relationship I want with my Jesus.

Start by familiarize yourself with those scriptures. Then pray to God about what kind of relationship is right for you.
I personally think that that kind of relationship with God is beautiful. It is a form of worship. The scripture regarding you hair as a covering is found in Corinthians and the scripture regarding the nothing pertaineth to a man is in Deuteronomy. Please contact me if you would like to talk. May God bless you on your journey. Amanda

Oh God... here we go (see what I did there, lol). I understand the entire idea of faith and that you aren't supposed to question it. It's the basis of any religion and a precarious one, since to question is to be without faith, but to not question is to fall prey to a potential mind-control situation (that's extreme, I couldn't think of a better word). Religion has always keep it's educated ministers, etc in positions of respect and power, despite the manner in which the ministers would downplay these things. Men are and always have been selfish about their women and so lust becomes a major sin. Covering the body, covering the face, keeping women silent, etc.. all ways to keep other men away from Their woman/women. Lots of things in the world should not be the way that they are, but keeping yourself distinctly apart from the world is impossible. If you overlook the power that you leave with the religious guidance of others, then I'd say that a good religion would change with times, upholding beliefs not rites. I think that if you have time to question the sacrifices that you make for your religion, then perhaps you need to find a faith that is better suited to your desires. On the other hand, religion and faith are nothing without sacrifice, because if you can't sacrifice something for your Lord, etc then how faithful are you really? This is an impossible question for someone to answer. I'd say that your heart knows that right path for you and I Know that no one else can tell what is right... period.

I really believe in freedom of religion. By that I mean as long as you're not huring others, do what YOU believe is right. If your religion tells you the earth is flat and you know that is false then YOU must decide whether or not to abide by it. I believe God gave us the ten commandments and those are the only laws He/She demands we obey. Of course many sub-laws fall under their general scope.
I don't recall a dress or hair code being included. So I feel it is an arbitrary rule established by some person to make the flock conform to some uniform look. If the people in your religion choose to abide by that, fine, but I refuse to give that authority to another. Although, we all do conform to social norms and wear an identifying look to some extent. I don't go to work in an office wearing a hard hat and tool belt and a construction worker doesn't wear a policeman's uniform or a doctors smock. Your look does indicate who you are. So who are you? Only you can decide.
YOU choose what YOU really believe and if you're just faking it to appease some leader who you disagree with, you're only fooling yourself, certainly not God. I don't know your age or living conditions so you may have to do certain things to keep peace in your living arrangement. You may WANT to abide by those rules and that's fine, or you may HAVE to at least for a time until you are self sufficient and that's fine too.
But the mere fact that you are asking, indicates to me that you have some real doubts about the religious necessity for certain rules which make you feel seperated from others in society. You have to determine if you think there is something wrong with those who choose to cut their hair, wear makeup or pants.
To me none of that has anything to do with whether they are a good person or not. Just lately we have found out that a lot of people dressed like priests were some of the most horrible sinners didn't we? The old saying is - "don't judge a book by it's cover."

The Bible shows that people have used cosmetics from ancient times. We know that people wear clothes, not merely to cover the body, but also to produce an attractive appearance. To make their bodily presence even more pleasant, the ancient Hebrews often used perfume. There is evidence, too, that they used certain cosmetics, particularly ointments, to combat dryness of skin and to improve their appearance. What, then, should be the guide for young women today who want to do what brings God’s approval? They need to follow the good advice to do all things “with modesty and soundness [or, healthfulness] of mind,” letting the main adornment be “the secret person of the heart in the incorruptible apparel of the quiet and mild spirit, which is of great value in the eyes of God.”—1 Timothy 2:9, 10; 1 Peter 3:3, 4.

I agree that it's OK for you to do so. It doesn't really matter what other people think because it's your life and you choose to live it however you want.
Personally I could never do that. I have thick curly hair, which I straighten every day, If it get's really long it's just to much to deal with. I could live without make-up and pants, but I do perfer them!
I'm not really sure why you're asking about the rest of the world. Look at muslim woman, all you get to see is their eyes. So I can't really say I agree with it on a personal level. However I agree that people should follow what ever religion they want. If that religion asks certain things from them and they are willing to, then that's fine, that's their choice.

I thought this line was interesting:
"And wearing makeup is just something of the world and when you truly got the HOLY GHOST you have no desire to be like the world."

But your not wearing makeup because you have the Holy Ghost, you're not wearing makeup to be like someone who has the Holy Ghost. Is that how you get the Holy Ghost, by pretending to be the like you're someone who has the Holy Ghost?

There are a lot of different beliefs out there regarding apparel and hygiene. I would say, do what makes sense to you, which doesn't necessarily have to be what you're told.

Ok- I'm Christian too. Non-denominational also and I don't agree with you. We cut our hair, wear pants and make up not to be more like the world but because we like it. To us none of that is a sin.

I totally back you if you feel a conviction to go by those rules but I don't agree it's for everybody.

Well, i'm skeptic of alot of religions. It sounds like yours teaches you that women are to remain home and take care of babies while the man goes out and works. If thats what makes you happy then go for it. I wouldn't want a woman like that. I think that once a woman turns 18 she is old enough to make her own decisions, and I don't believe that anyone should be bound to such restrictions. I prefer women with short hair that wear clothing that shows off their figure, whether its a skirt, or a pair of tight pants. I also like women that are confident in themselves and don't appreciate restrictive boundaries that people or groups may try to pin on them. I like independent women.

Take a moment and Think for yourself.
What # commandment says don't cut your hair.
Women are to cover their heads so they won't be tempting to the Nafieliam(Fallen Angles) who mated with human women and produced Geeber(Giants).
No one wore pants back in the day They all wore dresses. Does the Pope wear a Dress,of coarse he does.
The bible says to dress modestly .
You need to find a real teacher who will tell you the truth. Did your denomination also tell you not to celebrate birthdays because John the Baptist lost his head at the Kings birthday party.
We are in this world but are not OF this word because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
You can be as modest as you want it doesn't fix bad works. Walk in the light sister not in the shadow of man made rules.

not cutting your hair because of the verse in 1 cor. where it says 'the woman's hair is her glory' and 'its wrong to pray without a head covering', which is Either long hair or a cover to go over the head. that was for the people in the church paul was sending that letter too. nope i dont agree. and with the clothing issue, thats also to the women of the church @ that time that paul was sending that letter too. it is inappropriate to wear anything to try to look like a man, thats all we need to apply in USA in this century. why would i wear a blanket to cover myself while i cut grass in 110 degree weather? hope this helps!
