I realize that some people in the medical profession say that it won't do any damage but I speak from experience. I wore one contact in one eye about 10 years ago, like you're describing. It strained my eyes making my vision worsen and they ended up so sensitive that now I can't wear contacts at all. DON'T DO IT.

I'm an RN and although your question is highly unusual if you are alternating your eye wearing the contact every day it won't cause eye damage or weakness. Some patients wear one contact on one eye for distance and a contact on the other eye for reading. Actually this is a fairly common occurence. I'm not sure why you only want to wear one contact at a time, perhaps you would benefit from a different kind of contacts that are more comfortable. At any rate this should not create a problem for you. Continue to have your eyes evaluated atleast every 2 years. Good luck to you.

This is a horrible thing to do. Like the others commented, you are putting one eye more to work than the other, causing an imbalance, and therefore worsening the problem in the long run. Make sure to correct this now before it gets worse. Also, remember not to sleep with your contactS (well, in your case, CONTACT, silly), because this will cause a cornea in your eye. Ask your eye doctor to show you what a cornea looks like. It's not pretty.
When it comes to anything health or hygiene-related, remember to always think LONG TERM. We shower, wash our hair, brush our teeth, take vitamins, go to the doctor, and eat properly (hopefully) to prevent bigger problems later. What makes you think your eyes are any different?
Have you ever heard the saying, "A stitch in time saves nine?" It basically means, sew the hole before it gets bigger ;) Use this analogy when it comes to your eyes, oh those poor things. I feel bad for them.

If both of your eyes require vision correction, you will cause the eye without the contact lens to overcompensate and ultimately further worsen your vision.

Its horrible for your eyes. If you don't like contacts, get glasses.
Why only one contact? It takes like two seconds to put on the second one.

often two different prescriptions are given to the same person. each eye needs its own amount of correction. so it is probably not going to make you go blind or any thing but you should have the eyes checked to make sure.

it would be better than wearing one contact lens on two eyes! but seriously you are straining your eyes by doing so.

That is so not good.
You are messing up your peripheral (side) vision by doing this.
