ive done what everyone else has said, but if you want to be all legal and everything, here in virginia, we have a trip permit which enables you to move an unregistered vehicle from one location to another. The permit is good for 3 days. the catch is, you must have the car insured, and show proof of ownership. the fee is only $5.00. but the other stuff is kind of a pain in the butt.

Well, now that we've seen all the idiotic answers, here's the real deal. Temp tags don't cost all that much. Probably a lot less than renting a flatbed trailer for a day (assuming you have a tow vehicle that will pull that load) or paying for a tow. Those are your only options -- temp tag or tow.
And any of those options will cost you a HELL of a lot less than getting stopped for unregistered, uninsured and attaching a wrong tag. We won't even talk about the cost of having some REALLY bad luck and getting in an accident that way.
Use your head and do it the right way!

Guess my question is did you buy this car from a private owner? If you did some states will let you drive on the title for 30 days without the tags. Just make sure you have car insurance on it tho.
Just take it easy and obey the traffic laws. Some state troopers are easy to get along with if you are honest to them about it. I would move the car at night when there isn't much light at all to see the license's plates that clearly.

just make sure its or the driver is insured. do you have any idea how much money you would owe if you were to cause injury to someone? you could pay for the rest of your life. just get it towed. that cant be any more than 200-300 bucks. and that is cheap.

in the adventure that your tenant grew to become into conscious of the HOA policies and policies, no. it extremely is his own fault. Your tenants are sure by way of the policies merely as you're. despite the fact that if he did no longer know, he ought to have been conscious that expired tags have criminal outcomes. Had he been using this automobile down the line, that's obtainable a cop could pull him over and impound the automobile.

Drive it unregistered & uninsured. It's illegal, and if you get stopped, the car will be confiscated and you'll get a massive ticket & fine, but hey, it's free, what do you want.
Oh, and if you're in an accident driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle . . . you could be in for a LOAD of trouble.
