My fiance and I are going to Maui December 14th-17th to check it out and make arrangements for Feb 08.
Honestly, It depends on what island, what all is involved and who is involved. Different places has different regulations about time.
Reason why we are going in December to get all info we need. Then they said it is good because they require reservations 6 months in advance.
Honestly, 2 months is a very short time, especially with christmas and new year around the corner,. It will be just you and him or maybe a few other small family unit, which won't be too bad. Still a little short notice if destinational wedding. Best to plan it out longer, so don't have to cram it all along with stress that comes with it.
I would call a few hotel resorts or where ever you two has plans and get information from them.
Only information you can recieve on "enough time to plan it" only depends on the places you call to see if there is or not.

well, what u can do, is have the wedding on the neach which makes it a whole lot cheaper when it comes to the expenses. This will also be ideal for a small family setup tht would warm and beautiful. If u can find a hotel or a restuarant near the beach who will be able to have ure reception in the evening u can do that or maybe u can have a themed reception outside, where u have room for lots of creativity!!
Congrats, andwish u have a wonderful wedding day:)

Ask locals from the island you're planning to wed on. They'll know where the best spots are and where the cheapest rentals would be. You definitely have enough time if it's going to be pretty small. Just don't worry about the tiny details. Get the big stuff out of the way first. Then if you have time for details, work on those.

Well usually you can just call one of the major hotels here and they'll plan most of the wedding for you, ex. food, decorations, etc. Try not to get married at a Waikiki hotel though, that area is so overpopulated with tourists that you probably wouldn't be able to take pictures on the beach, etc. I would recommend having it at the Ihilani hotel on Oahu or at Maui or the Big Island (Island of Hawaii).

Every time I hear someone say they want to get married in December, I cringe.
Hotels and motels are booked with folks comming to visit or for vacations.
December is the time when most reception rooms are reserved by people having holiday celebrations, sometimes with standing orders placed years in advance.
December is when most caterers are booked solid sometimes years in advance!
December is when people are thinking of holiday presents and travel expenses.
December is when most florists are busy with holiday orders.
If you truly want to save money, get married in January or March.
Booking anyone or anything during the holidays will add at least twenty percent to your bill,,,if not more!
Good Luck
