if you take a nickel and "rub" it against your face, why does it leave a black mark where you rubbed it? what does this mean?? I know this is a weird question but i saw kids in my class doing it today and i was wondering why that happens.

because it is made of nickel... it's the chemical reaction of the coin and your skin.. just like when your finger turns green or black when you wear a fake ring

Its a prank. You take a black marker and write on the edge of a coin. You tell some dork that its a majic trick or something and have them to run the coin along their forehead or whatever. Then everyone gets a good laugh.

And its not a chemical reaction from the nickel. Nickels are only made from about 25% of actual nickel.

Also there's a practical joke where you use a quarter, or nickle, to draw a circle on a piece of paper with a pencil, then tell a sucker that the pencil has magic properties and they can't make the nickle stick to their heads. The lead in the pencil could be it.

i would guess because the nickel is very dirty and the oils on the skin react with the metal, making it all black and nasty

It means you have a lot of acid in your skin. The acid makes the black mark. Don't ask me how though.
