Frankly, I have a brain and the sense to use it. I do not need a BIBLE, the church, a religious leader, NOR organized religion to tell me what is right and wrong. Why can others not figure it out for themselves? I think if there is a God, we bother him wayyyyyy to much for stupid stuff we can work out and figure out on our own.

I found it very interesting reading over the answers that most EVERYONE that responded with something akin to "figure it out yourself is good" or " you don't have to have religion to be moral" almost everytime got a thumbs down. You know what, more and more everyday i am becoming more religious and the more "religious" I become, the more afraid I am of those who claim to be religious. DEAR GOD, IF YOU ARE THERE, PLEASE PLEASE I BEG YOU SAVE ME FROM YOUR FOLLOWERS.

There are some in religions that feel that their faith is the only right way to be, and even those of other faiths have it wrong and need to be corrected. If you don't follow their way, you need religious counselling. How could you possibly have values if you don't worship as they do, or, heaven forbid, don't worship at all. At the same time, these misguided ones talk about free will, yet cannot see that putting down someone for not thinking the same as you is a denial of what they espouse. Don't worry, you are on the path to wisdom by working it out for yourself, while those that put you down are walking the road of conformity..

Actually I belive that none of us are good, whether we call ourselves religius or not. we can never be good enough to meet Gods standard. let me explain by asking you a few questions.....

Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; Have you ever hated someone? the BIBle calls this murder. Nothing you’ve ever done is hid from His holy eyes. Will you be innocent or guilty on the Day of Judgment? Listen to your conscience. You know that you will be guilty, and therefore end up in Hell. That’s not God’s will. He provided a way for you and I to be forgiven.
He sent His Son to take our punishment: "God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He was bruised for our iniquities. Jesus then rose from the dead and defeated death.
Your own so-called “goodness” can’t get you into heaven any more than mine could. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the "Door," the only "mediator." There is salvation in no other name,. The Bible says if you will repent (turn from sin) and put yur full faith and trust in Jesus as Lord and savior, God will forgive you and grant you the gift of everlasting life. not because your a god person, but because you have broken Gods law and God loved you so much and wanted to sho you mercy.
God Bless

You are right we do bother him to much for stupid stuff,or because we are lazy and think we could get it faster by asking God for it ,but God also has a brain and wants us to use ours also,or he wouldn't have given us one, that's why a lot of time people get mad at God when they ask for something and don't get it , and end up doing what they ask for, their self, which was GOD'S intention for that person ,to learn to do somethings for them self's.
But to answer the first part of your question , all you have to do is look around, at the news, movie ,music, politics, that's why we religious people believe people that don't have a belief in God , cant be moral . I'm sure there are some people that can be moral and not have a belief in God, but as a rule 95% of people ,especially this generation of from 15-30year olds, right now don't believe in nothing , they cant be their own self's, they copy and want to be everyone except them self's ,no one knows who they are, they just follower the crowd, just to fit in,and will do anything to fit in.....ANYTHING....especially for that 15 minutes of fame.....anything!!! Morals.....most people learn them off of MTV...so ,yes most of us do believe you cant be moral with out God.

I am a religious person and I believe that morality and good are not based on religious believes but on your own internal ones. Religion is only a way to externalize your feelings and morals, to belong to a group of likeminded individuals.
I also believe that you are responsible to educate yourself in all things including religion, threfore you should not depend on what others think or teach.

Because they're religious instead of spiritual there's a big difference when you're spiritual you develop a relationship with God for yourself when you're religious you do what you've been thought by others and that's why God gave us a mind of our own so we could think for ourselves and not expect him to do magic when life is just life crap happens to the best of us deal with or leave the table.

It's true we pretty much all know the difference between right and wrong.

The question you should be asking is whether or not there really is a true church.

The other thing is chosing to believe in inspiration. Can you be inspired and still not believe in God or a Bible.

I'm creating more questions in my own mind than i'm answering...

I am very religious, and my boyfriend whom I am in love with is an Atheist. I respect his choice and he respects mine. I don't push my beliefs on him and he doesn't push his on me either. I believe that everyone has a conscience and that people can be good if they want to, and I've seen it. There have been many Atheists in the world who have helped humanity, people like Susan B. Anthony, Angelina Jolie, Bill Gates and Christopher Reeve, to name only a few.

By the way, whataboutme, you just contradicted yourself.

Exactly. You know right from wrong. So does ex-congressman Foley.

Check out this headline from Associated Press:

"Priest denies having sex with Foley"

Does this remind of of anything? I'll give you a hint:

"I did not have sex with that woman."

Except here you have a priest (!) and a member of the moral right. Need I mention they're both guys?

Sick.
