take some pamprin right when you get out of bed. Try tampons...they may just be your cup of tea. Try out different tampons and pads because they are all different. And if you want to get rid of cramps or make them less severe I heard that exercising works well.

Birth contol. It will shorten your period, ease cramps, lessen clotting, make your period regular, and many other things. I had terrible periods until I got on the pill. I'm talking about 15 day periods that came every 14 days and cramps that would leave me bed ridden for days on end. I had very heavy periods also, I would have to use a super plus tampon and an overnight pad, but would have to change them both inbetween every class period. Now, I hardly notice that I have a period at all, my bloating is completly gone and cramps are a dull memory.
If the pill is not an option for you, regular exercise, watching your sodium intake, and trying different varieties of tampons or pads could be an option. Also, they have these cup like things that you insert into your vagina to catch your flow. I've never tried them but I hear good things. You can find them right next to the pads and tampons. There is also not much of a price different if any.

Not going to school for the first day of your period is a very good reason to stay home. Sometimes going to school on the first day of your period could be just as bad as not going to school, since you would be more focused on cramps or leaks than lessons. Tampons are good to use but even them you should use atleast a panty liner, if not a pad because they can also leak; another thing is that tampons can cause cramps and can also be uncomfortable, which happens to me many times. Do what you feel you should do and if you feel you wont be able to make it through the day, then tell your mom or dad that.

Midol, Pamprin or Motrin work wonders for PMS symptoms. I would get tampons if I were you. Pads are bulky and make me feel so uncomfortable and self conscious. Tampons might seem scary at first, but they are a breeze! Ask your mom, friend or another trusted female to help you out if you are worried or concerned.

Take midol, drink lots of water and some milk, exercize. A yoga or pilates exercise tends to help releive them a lot.
And yeah, if you find pads to be uncomfortable, either try a different brand or try (tampax pearl) Tampons. They are the best!
You will get used to them, and if your not sure if its in properly or ur scared of leaking, use a panty liner.

I know this sounds a little weird but......when i used to wear pads..(a long time ago)...My cramps would feel worse..and i have no clue why that was! But when i finally started wearing tampons my cramps hurt less!!! If i were you i would use Tampax Pearl....that's what i use and they are soooo comfortable....also take Advil liquid gels take one before you go to bed and then take one when you wake up regardless if you have cramps....the medicine in your body will lessen the cramps or kick them before they start....

Good Luck!

Learn how to use tampons. It's a whole new, more comfortable world. That way you can just wear the small pads for just-in-case leakage.

To ease cramps, hug a hot water bottle or pillow to your stomach. Gentle excercise also helps apparently although Ive never tried it :))
