I'm a 1st year grad student, and I have a crush on my RA who's an undergrad. Til now we've just done small talk. This week he's been more friendly, though. A couple of days ago, he invited me to a hall social. Then, tonight he ate dinner with me in the cafeteria. We talked for an hour, and we seem to have similar personalities. He acted silly, which he'd never done before. During the conversation, he mentioned that he'd been talking to a girl online, but that hadn't worked out, so now he was looking for a relationship. He said he preferred older girls. Near the end of the conversation, he invited me to hang out with him and his friends on Sunday.

The only problem is that I'm in an LDR that's not going well, and I'm sure my crush knows because we're both on facebook and my status says I'm in a relationship. Should I assume that my crush's comments about wanting a relationship were a sign that he likes me? Normally I wouldn't even consider it, but my current SO is being neglectful.

You don't want to end up cheating on the guy your currently with, or hurting him if he found out you were even talking to another guy, so if you have feelings for someone else, and your bf is neglecting you, then to avoid confrontation, i suggest you have no choice but to leave the one your with. Things happen and people grow apart, so if he's doing you wrong, that's even more of an excuse to leave. And you RA seems to be throwing signs that he wants to be with you, he did basically say I'm single, and want a relationship, would you say that to someone you weren't interested in? Remember, it's better to have a smooth breakup, then hurt him more, and end up cheating on him, or him finding out anything you don't want him to know

Well imo, you shouldn't break up with someone because you have a crush on someone else. Because that may be all that it is. A crush. If things aren't too good with your bf you need to talk to him about it and see whats going on with him. You are adults after all, and things can't be so simple as to go with the guy that gives the most attention. Things change overtime. You mentioned you were a grad student. What does your current bf do? Why isn't your relationship going to well? Can it be salvaged? Is it worth it in the long run?
I've been in your situation, where I had a crush on a girl and I knew that she liked me. I was in a LTR though, so I could never ask her out. I chose to try and work things out with my gf. I thought to myself "what am i not doing to make things work with my gf?" Turns out, I was always thinking about my crush that I didn't have any attention left to give my gf? So I stopped talking to my crush as much. She was very beautiful. Maybe we could have been great together. Maybe not. It's always a gamble with that sort of thing though. Things are currently getting better with gf as we are spending more time together. Hope this helps.

Okay long distance relationships are hard...it will cause conflicts. I am sure it isn't all on one side either. If you want it to work out you need to quit having thoughts of relationships with your RA.

Its ok to be friends just keep the distance if you want it to work out with your BF.

I would suggest letting this first relationship die a natural death, or speeding it along by talking to your current guy. Don't kill it off, though, by breaking it off with first guy...and not telling him about it, because until you do something, you're still "going out" with this guy.

break up with your boyfriend b/c that's not working out obviously...b/c I know when I really like a guy...no other guy comes before him- even if in the end you end up alone...atleast you wont be in a meaningless relationship

He is totally trying to throw out hints to you. I think he likes you. Dump your man and have some fun or concentrate on school.
