DON'T DO IT!!!

I had a 1995 Sunfire and it was a total piece of crap! It was always breaking down and in the shop for costly repairs. They have inherent problems with the design of the head gasket which leads to antifreeze leaking into the engine - so you end up smelling this really sweet smell near the hood after the engine has been running for a bit and your engine starts to overheat.
Everytime that you have to have that fixed it's about $900. I had to have mine "fixed" three times because they could never really figure it out. Soooo frustrating!

I finally traded in that car before my loan was even paid off!!

It was really an awful car. If you can find a way to buy a Toyota or a Honda they are really MUCH better cars.

Good Luck!

I had a 2001 sunfire that never had anything go wrong with it. When I traded it in i got 3000 for it and that's exactly what kbb told me I should get. But mine also had a dent on the right passenger side. The nice thing about the sunfire is that because they are a little bit of a cheaper car, you can get the parts that you need for it for cheaper then an international car. If I were you I would offer a little bit less then 2000 for a 95-98 sunfire. Maybe more like 1000-1500. Good luck.

I have a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire and I really haven't had any big problems with it that isn't normal.I have 118,000 miles on it.I had to replace the computer on it and every so often I go online to to see if there are any new recalls on it. So you get what you pay for. Go for it is all I can say.Ms. know it all mention problems with the head gaskets, that was a recall problem. Took my car to the dealer and had it repair and didn't cost a cent.

I had a 92 Sunbird, the older model and I never had any problem with it. I am sorry I had to sell it when I moved.
Just the usual, take a mechanic with you and check it before buying it.
