The idea is sound though I have never heard that particular choice. I have hear ice, butter, and aloe. The Idea is that you want somthing that will obsorb the heat fast. This usually means somthing that has a low to medium smoke point. Be sure that you don't use somthing that will trap the heat in such as an antiseptic ointment or lard. These are not sutible choices. The idea is to obsorbe the heat not trap it agains the skin. Do not cover with any bandage. So if you could keep the egg on the burn yes it might help but I think I would personaly choose somthing a little less likely to contain bacteria. A burn spray or ointment would be best since those are steral.

Don't do it. You would possibly be adding bad bacteria like salmonella to an open wound. Use peroxide to clean the are and put a triple antibiotic(neosporin) to aid in healing. Aloe is also a natural thing good for burns. Do NOT use butter or lard or anything intended for cooking. Make sure you keep the area sterile to avoid infection.

About the only thing you can do is as soon as you can cool the burned area down with cold water. Draw out any residual heat.

If you have a third degree burn or a second degree larger than a quarter, see a doctor.

Old wives tale, and an annoying one at that. Putting anything other than water on a burn does not help, and eggs would just help seal the heat and pain in.
