no riots or death threats. there was a big uproar here in the states with a lot of protestant pulpits preaching thunderous messages of blasphemy---Jerry Falwell types.

and there was even an article in Time magazine about the flap, but after a couple of weeks it all died down.

loved that movie---esp the scene with the Roman Official and his friend, Biggus D i c k u s. I also loved the scene where Brian gets a language lesson from the roman centurian.

the Brits weren't running bombing runs on your cities at the time or anything like that. Your cartoons were being published in your media in a country that depends heavily on trade with Muslims. The protests weren't the worst thing that happened. Much of the middle east just quit buying their products. The economy of the dairy industry in Denmark has been damaged severly because people like you wanted to be cute. Do you really expect customers not to react. Would you expect it to be different if you published cartoons direspecting Judaism or calling the Zionist State of Israel down, or would you expect protests and boycots. But of course, you would never consider saying anything against Israel and would prosecute anybody who did for hate crimes.
Sense of humour? Not about war, no thanks.

The critics who desired to prohibit the film in most cases did not even watch the entire factor. While it's whatever of parody of the lifetime of Jesus, the film additionally makes it transparent that Brian isn't intended to truthfully BE Jesus. Brian truthfully encounters Jesus throughout the film and Jesus is offered according to the regular Christian strategies. There is not any aspect within the film wherein it truthfully indicates or implies Jesus doing something silly or mistaken.

There weren't any riots or anything, just a lot of people who hadn't seen it getting rather hot under the collar.

The book "Monty Python: The Case Against" mentions it.
