Hair remover lotions which are easy to diguise if your dad doesnt read. Also, if youre shaving your legs for a reason other than swimming then you shouldnt make a fuss about it unless you where skirts all the time...also, if he makes a big deal about it tell him that dead skin and oil is easier to remove when there is no hair. Use logical and hard proof evidence that shaving your legs isnt as bad as he may think it is; and if your dad claims that you shouldnt do it because of boys or etc...let him know that there are the same amount of people who like hairy legs as there are people who dont. That he should also take the issue to several women so that they can lay the facts out for him, because it could be that he doesnt really understand or just plain doesnt know. He may also be in denial that his 'little' girl is growing up.
And then theres your self esteem. If theres any more resistance then tell your father that you dont want any more criticism than needed from your peers and that if it can be avoided then that would be best since pressure can cause mental health problems. Many girls have suffered from the mindless torment and mean words of peers, I for one, was also a victim.
If its for your underarms (dont use hair removers in any other places than indicated on the bottle) then tell him that it is a hygenic issue. Old deodarant can build up in underarm hair aswell as dead skin, dirt, and body oil. Thats one of the basic principles of women hygene, 'shaving' (or it is considered so to me). But shaving under your arms is a definite Hygenic Principle. I have a dad that sounds so much like yours and it was very imbarasing when I left him the job to fill me in(which he didnt) and I was told by my brother that shaving was a 'must do.'

You don't mention your mom, but is she around? Parents sometimes have a hard time accepting that their little girls are growing up. At age 13, you're ready to start your transition into early adulthood. Very respectfully, ask your dad what his reasons are. Open a discussion and express why it's important to you. Most importantly, don't do anything sneaky. Don't do anything to degrade your relationship with your father. Good luck.
And here's a link from the American Academy of Pediatrics. It mentions shaving as a personal choice. You might show it to your dad.

Well if you live with a female adult in the home have her talk to your father about how shaving legs is essential in the teen years. I shaved at that age, and it is kinda gross having hairy legs. But if he still says no ask him why he doesn't want you to if he is afraid you will get cut buy an electric leg shaver my sis uses one, they work just as great. Good luck. If not wear pants...for the rest of your life. lol

I agree totally with Ms. Roberts. Until you and your father agree on when you can shave/use a hair removal product, maybe you could bleach the hair on your legs. If you are fair skinned this will make the hair less noticeable.

I am 13, too. I think you should tell him that it is a right of passage for most families and13 is the normal age for that. I just started shaving my legs and it's actually easier that I thought. Just don't press down with the razor too hard.

He probably wouldn't notice if you did shave your legs. Tell him this will be psychologically damaging to you in the long run. Ask him if he plans to fork out the money for your future shrink visits!
Or, just use Veet. It's not shaving, and youll get rid of the hair.

listen, men don't know about half of the things that women do. your dad, as a man, has no place telling you what you cannot do as a woman. just shave 'em and don't tell him, and if he notices that you've shaved then tell him he has no business telling you what you can and cannot do with your body, especially since he is a man and doesn't have to go through all the things that women have to go through (shaving, periods, beauty upkeep, etc).

try talking to your dad about why you want to shave your legs. show him that you're mature enough and try to aviod saying "but everyone's doing it", parents hate that. if that doesnt work buy a pack of disposable razors or use your dad's razor.
