I heard it makes you gain weight more in your sleep and you feel bloated then next morning.

It will make it easier to gain weight as your body does not metabolize as much when you are sleeping. Better to wake up hungry then go to sleep full

I guess that statement is dependent on a variety of things. For example, the time you normally go to sleep at night. If you regularly fall asleep between the hours of 9PM and 11PM, then yes, I suppose this could have an affect on your weight. However, if you regularly fall asleep at 1AM or later, I don't see how this would affect you. Perhaps, eating an hour or two before falling asleep is the real issue that can cause weight-gain, and not necessarily the 9PM rule.

I would suggest consulting a nutritionist or your doctor to find out what is really going to assist in weight-loss if that is what you're interested in.

It depends on what you eat.

If you eat a cheesesteak every night after 9pm, then yes you will gain weight and feel bloated.

To get rid of the growling stomach at midnight, first drink a large glass of water.

Most hunger pangs are actually due to dehydration.

If that doesn't cut it, eat some vegetables.

Yep - sure is, unless you are in Europe where they start eating at 9+ o'clock.

Stop food at 8 - some people stop at 7. It just sits in your stomach and turns to fat instead of food energy.

I know cause I am guilty of sneaking and have gained a lot of weigh doing so. Even if it is something completely good for you - it is calories at a time when you body is gearing down. Makes sense? Good! Now go have yourself a nice glass of water.

Actually, eating in the night time is just not good because your stomach won't digest well. After all, when you sleep your body needs to rest too. Thus, the digesting would not be completely finished when you are sleeping.
So I think that you shouldn't eat in the night after 9pm

well alot of people are saying it don't matter but i think it does, if you eat earlier in the day around 5 or 6 you have the rest of the day to burn off them calories, if you eat at 9 and go to bed at 10 or 11 then you don't have much time to burn them off, and since your matoblism slows down when your sleeping it makes it harder. If i were you I wouldnt eat after 7 or 8pm

My best friend is a nurse and according to her it doesnt matter what time you eat because your body digests food the same at 3:00 in the afternoon as it does at 3:00 in the morning...im pretty sure that its an old wives tale...

It is just as unhealthy to eat after 9PM, as it is to eat after 6 or 7PM, and it is equally unhealthy to sleep past 2am, too.

It doesnt matter, there actually was an article on yahoo news about this. Its just an old myth that everyone says. It doesnt matter when you eat, it will all be digested the same just not quite as fast. Plus my mom is a nurse and told me the same thing.

I have also heard that it doesn't matter when you eat. It's simply a matter of intake of calories versus using up of calories, regardless of the time.
