Not sure where you are getting your facts from but they're WRONG. If coffee has no cream (or whitener of any kind), and no sugar, then it has ZERO calories....

If you must have coffee and are worried about calories, SKIP the starbucks crap with a bunch of fat and sugar added to it, and just make your own coffee at home! No sugar, no cream added, just black. If you buy good enough coffee beans/grounds it will taste good that way. I've never heard of anyone losing weight from going to starbucks. But if you just drink plain-old coffee it's not going to hurt you any.

Coffee alone does not have one calorie, it is what you put in it that adds the calories. Cream sugar etc. Coffee is a natural diuretic though and it is known to speed up your metabolism. You did get that part right. Drink up.

Look at the nutritional information on the Starbucks websites.
Bare coffee has 0 calories.
Coffee speeds up metabolism, but only slightly. Not enough to have any significant health effects. You still need to exercise.

Lattes and Cappucinos have *lots* of calories in them but regular coffee does not have any. The fancy drinks could be what you're thinking of when you quote that many calories. If you're really worried about the extra calories, switch to regular coffee instead of lattes or cappucinos. You'll save some extra money as well :)

if it's coffee, it's worth it. Not Starbucks so much, but the independant coffee shops have some of the best coffee I have ever had. Nadine's Coffee Shop has the best esspresso, the Nervous Twitch (5 shots of espresso), or Cup O' Joe, the Hairy Man (24oz cup, 3 shots of espresso, topped off with coffee)...dee-lish.
