It really depends on your age and tastes. For example, If I were you, I'd get myself a dodge charger or even a mustang (the new ones look AWESOME) and soup it up a little bit. The mazda RX8 is 27K, but that's a pretty cool car too. I don't think you can buy a decent lexus, BMW, or Benz with 25K, but don't go for Scion either. Scion is crap, it really is. If you're older, then maybe you ought to go for a prius, especially since they are low-gas and reliable. If you're into safety, buy a volvo, but not a japanese brand (except Nissan, which is now italian-designed and outfitted with a ginormous engine). Nissan cars nowadays are also a good choice. lovers of sporty cars will enjoy Mazda's RX8 and acura's TL and RSX. If you're a student, get yourself a hybrid Civic....they look great this year, and they're economical. If you're into camping and stuff, try the Ford Escape SUV hydrid. Don't get a diesel engine car yet, because there will soon be a new type of diesel oil coming soon, so carmakers are modifying right now so that new cars can use that diesel fuel. If you want a pickup truck, the F-250 is the way to go. If you just want a luxurious but affordable car, go for the Hyundai Azera. This may be a good investment, as American cars are going down, Japanese cars are losing their reliability, and European cars are getting expensive. This relatively new brand is highly reliable and quite roomy.

Hyundai Sonata- upgrade trim level
nice car (larger small car) has good warranty, even base models have safety features that puts a father's mind at ease. (ABS traction control, all around airbags) add the steering column controls and actual steel wheels (you get the picture) add tinting to bring out the blue, and nice leather seats - still have a little for the insurance
Its the car that I bought for my daughter after extensive comparison and can do a decent job of moving right along when dad gets in it.
also looks nice from a young persons perspective.

LOL,I had 25k for a car last year for my wife.
We ended up buying a one year old Chevrolet Impala LS.We looked at new one's,but this car listed new at about 30k.It had all the options, low miles(18k)and it has a very reliable engine in it.The 3800 series III is awesome, has great power and good midrange torque. It get's great gas mileage, and if it breaks down parts won't be an arm and a leg.The 3800 serie III is in about 5 other car's I can think of offhand that GM makes.

I would suggest the Honda and Toyota hybrids also, and I also like the new Pontiac Solstice, but I don't know what the price range is for optioned out.
If you are looking for something more on the performance side, I have always liked the Mustangs capabilities.

Level 5!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

You forgot to say something such as, why that make and model?. Yes, I would, because I've never had a new one that was really new. And there are certain kinds of cars, I've always wanted. If I had any money left over, I'd upgrade my insurance for the new car, and get my eyes worked on.

I'd go for a Honda Civic or a Toyota Corolla. I'm not really into hybrids. As far as I know, they don't really give as much mileage as they promise. EPA testing environments are not really alike to real life driving conditions.

Anything except a Ford, Chevy, GM, Chrylser, or Hyundai. Go with Honda, Toyota, Nissan, or even Kia.
