The Bible says

Ephesians 5:18
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

It does not say do not drink - Jesus Himself drank wine.

The bible does not say "NO, do not drink alcohol." But the bible does say over and over that "drunkeness" is bad. People in the bible drank wine frequently. But the bible clearly says that people can make very bad choices, cause problems and fights and do bodily harm when there is drunkeness.

I also am a Christian, that had to do some research into this. I do drink some ocassionally. But I do not allow myself to get drunk. God knows what's best for us. He does not want us to get hurt.

Some people totally stay away from alcohol. That is an okay choice as well. Some people have a harder time with stopping themselves before they go to far, or are more pron to become an alcoholic.
Enjoy a tasty treat, but be responsible. :)

To be honest - people will argue this till the day Jesus comes back. The only clear fact is, the Bible says NOT TO GET DRUNK! It also says not to be a glutton (over-eater).

It does not say "Do not drink alcohol" although in the Old Testament in Proverbs and or Ecclesiastes it warns about the dangers of strong drink (alcohol).

Take this valid information despite these other people's arguments and make of it what you will. Clearly being drunk is a sin. One could reason that it would be hard to get drunk if you didn't drink. Be that as it may -be religiously on guard not to get drunk. if you can stop drinking, then great!

The Bible is not against drinking. There are passages in the Old Testament that advise the Hebrews to spend their tithe on strong drink and be festive. Jesus of course turned water into wine.

Some say that the wine in the Bible was unfirmented, but this is silly belief. Wine was common in part because it could last longer than water and keep bacteria out.

Aaron, having a drink truly can't be called a sin.But let me ask you this?Do you care about your witness?I'm not being sarcastic. Many years ago,I decided to have a non-alcoholic drink called o'duels or something like that.As I am a minister, the neighbors frowned on it.These were people I'd hope to get saved. There was no more hope for me after that.My selfish side said `I don't care what they think,I did nothing wrong'.Then I remembered the scripture that said`to abstain ev en from the appearance of evil'. I haven't had one since.I'm not sorry either. You can go overboard on that verse, but I new I did the right thing. So I say to you,Brother, follow God and with Him alone work out yourown salvation with fear and trembling as the word says.God Bless .

It's not a sin to drink and not even a sin to get drunk, you just aren't supposed to make a filthy habit of it!

Wine goes far back into the Bible and today Science is raving about the benefits of Red wine. It helps keep weight off after you diet, it elasticizes the arteries and clears up plaque in the cardio system. In France and Italy where they drink red wine from age 4, they have a very low incidence of both stress and heart disease and they cook with butter and cream.

Jesus drank wine, he turned water into wine and his disciples got drunk on the passover wine of the last supper.

In olden times man live a lot longer and he was eating greasey lamb meat but he also drank wine regularly.

It's a part of the Jewish traiditions and festivals.

It is not a sin to have a drink, but it is a sin to get drunk. I know that, when I used to drink, that it was very seldom, that I would only toss back one or two beers. That may not be the case for you. I personally don't think that it's a good witness to a non- believer, and God convicted me of it long ago. I'm not trying to condemn you brother, but for me when I need a fix, I get in my word, or get in prayer, and allow the Lord to get me drunk in the Spirit. Everyone's walk with God is different, but for a clear answer, you should fast on this one. God Bless!

If you drink to excess, it is. I know there are denominations that say any drink of alcohol is a sin. However, if you do it in moderation and are responsible about it i.e. don't drink and drive, there's nothing wrong with having a drink now and then. Happy Birthday.

No it is NOT a sin. Just don't have so many drinks that it will impair your judgement. It is perfectly alright to have a beer every now and again, but I wouldn't drink more than a few at once. Actually, I personally wouldn't drink any because it tastes disgusting, but that's just me. :o)

It is ok. Go have your drink. Just don't get falling down drunk and drink and drive or anything like that and you will be fine. Jesus even turned the water the wine at the wedding in Cana.
