Well, the Yahoo! Mail server settings are as follows:

Incoming mail server (POP3):
pop.mail.yahoo.com

Outgoing mail server (SMTP):
smtp.mail.yahoo.com

If you're still having problems, download YPOPs!. It's a small application that emulates a POP server enabling you to access your Yahoo! Mail through an external email client.

Tip: If you're a Mac user, read the "mac_readme103104.rtf" file for installation and configuration instructions.

As far as I know, you can't.

Thunderbird requires either a POP3 or IMAP address to find and send your mail. Yahoo doesn't offer this information. At the end of the day, do you blame them, they are giving free email on the grounds that you see their advertising when you check your mail.
