The general time period is usually around 6 weeks.

Some breeds mature quicker than others. I would let the mother and puppies decide when to begin the weaning. Their natural instincts will come into play and if you watch closely, you will know when it is happening. Usually this will take place around 8-12 weeks old.

If you are asking the question - you shouldn't be breeding.

Your question shows a lack of knowledge. You should have done your 'homework' on breeding before the breeding. You should be aware of the medical and nutritional needs of your ***** as she is lactating and feeding the litter. Making sure that she's been wormed not to pass it on to her litter.

It should be up to the ***** when the weaning should beginning -then you can assist her by reducing the amount of pups on her at a time. 'Milk teeth' erupt at about 4 weeks which then gets a little uncomfortable for the *****.

Talk to your vet. Get some books. Join a breed club.
If you live in San Jose - they will be moving for a bill to license anyone that wants to breed dogs.

You don't have to do it. The mother will wean them when the time is right. Do not interfere unless it gets to be like a more than a month or so. You shouldn't have to do anything.

no puppies should be weaned before the mother is ready to do it herself. listen to her clues. if you are THAT inexperienced, then contact your breeder you got her from to assist you. if she is a mix or you rescued her, then don't allow her to breed again. be sure mom and pups are on a good quality puppy food for now. when you do wean them, start letting them eat the food softened with warm water .

The puppies will do it themselves, and if not then the mother will.....Don't make them do it, because by forcing them to wean will harm them. They won't get the proper amount a nutrients from their mother if you do, so just be patient and wait, when they are ready they know what to do.

Absolutely no true!!!!

During their 4th week the pups should be with their mother at night and separated from her during the day, being fed morning, noon and evening during the day. I mix Puppy Kibble and warm water in a blender. During the 5th week the puppy's should be separated from their mother completely, but the litter mates should remain together for at least two more weeks.

Take them to the vet immediately. Do your homework before breeding again.
