Generally the ones in the scrap yard never see the repair shops. Seriously, it's very important to maintain your vehicle. If you don't it'll cost you down the road. If maintenance isn't important to you, either buy or lease a car for 2-3 years and turn it in.

Any car made in japan will be in the shop less than the others.Oil changes and tire shops maybe but not repair shops

Usually you read that Toyota and Honda are high on the quality list. I own one of each. My 2004 Honda is great. My 1998 Toyota has a stupid stalling problem. It stalled on my today as I was turning left in front of traffic. If it does that again, it won't be in the shop. It will be in the junk yard.
