I have several girlfriends that do not have a clue in the kitchen but they are married or in strong relationships. I am a great cook and the men I meet really act as if this skill is of no importance. I have other great skill to add to my relationships but the fact that I am a great cook dose not help or should it?

I'm a great cook, and my boyfriend really appreciates it. His mother can't cook AT ALL (even though she went to a domestic science college!!!), and he had to endure 21 years of culinary misery until he moved in with me.

He has said quite openly that if I was a terrible cook and didn't improve, he would not want to spend the rest of his life with me. I guess that means he does??

You haven't indicated your age, but I am a 60 year old guy who respects and appreciates a woman's cooking. I dabble in the kitchen myself since I have to work away from home during the week, but I would rather be doing something else and leave the cooking to my woman. Most men my age that I am acquainted with also appreciate a good cook in the house. I know a lot of young people that would rather go get chicken or burgers than cook - this is not good nutrition, and they will pay the price later. Please keep up your cooking and some guy will come along that will appreciate you for your personality and your cooking. I applaud you on learning to cook - it is more the exception than the rule now I think.

I guess you haven't met the right person yet. I am a good cook (I don't say great, but others do), and my fiance LOVES it when I do cook. Mind you, I don't cook every night. When I do cook, I try to fix enough to last a couple of nights or so, that way I don't have to cook as often. Plus, it's just the two of us and it's hard to cook for just two. Thank goodness I don't know how to cook for only two, tho, as my 54 year old fiance eats like a teenage boy and still stays skinny as a rail!

I think it's a great skill, but that most girls aren't taught this as their mothers have ended up being working mothers themselves so they didn't teach their daughters. And what's wrong with a guy learning how to cook? My ex husband sure could cook! He is the one that taught me how to cook many things, including a turkey!! And if I do say so myself, I think I do a better job of it than he does! :)

Cooking should not be the determining factor on the relationship, but it should be appreciated by your partner. There are too many other more important things to be considered for a relationship than whether or not someone can cook or not, especially since there are TV dinners, boxed foods, and fast food out there now.

My fiance really, really appreciates it when I cook. I don't know how to cook too much, but he loves it. Another reason I don't cook much is that it becomes a treat to him when I do cook (and the fact that I don't really like to adds to it too). When he knows that I am cooking, he rushes right home and digs in as soon as I tell him it's ready, then he savors every bite of it and tells me how good it is. Talk about appreciation for my cooking! :)

Some day you'll meet a man that really appreciates a woman that knows her way around in the kitchen. Don't settle for someone that doesn't appreciate you. There are a lot of men that would love to have a woman that knows how to cook.

It's bad and good. if you have time go on youtube and type in "seducing mr.perfect"..it's a movie made in 2006 but its so good I think you will learn something about dating from it, but if you don't have time than I'll tell you the good and the bad below. It's good because: this shows that you care for your guy and is willing to support him at all times when he needs it The bad thing: I'm a girl so I don't know why this is true but it is.nmen get bored easily of girls who cling on and do whatever they say. It's more of like a helper than a girlfriend right? I think your really sweet at what you described above like cooking for him and all, but don't you want him to ever do something for you? Maybe like also show him your not just a gf there to support and care for him at all times whenever he needs it? Girls usually want to be in control also to add excitement in the guys life, imagine if you we're the guy and there was your girlfriend who was there and cooking for you calling you doing whatever you tell of her,,, does this sound like a relationship? More like a maid if you ask me. I'm not trying to be mean but i think it's good and bad that you like controlling men, more bad than good. I hope you don't get in a situation where it's abusive, cause most controlling men are like that.

Like they always say "In order to win a man's heart is his stomach". Well it depends if you find a man that loves to cook then you hit the jackpot. Sometimes it would be nice because I see it as like making a gift, and putting all that effort to make it regardless it didn't come out right. It's the thought that counts, so it's not a neccessary skill but it helps.

I dont "expect" a woman to cook for me but for both our sakes any woman Im with had better be able to cook or we're going to starve...
peace!
besides, I DO appreciate the occasions a woman has liked me enough to cook for me. it's hot in it's own way.

Cooking helps, but doesn't make up for much. For instance, you can't say "I'm unfaithful but I'm a great cook" or "I'm sure horsefaced but I make a great meatloaf" or "I'm pretty stupid but I can sure bake a cake". It's a gravy skill, not a deal closer.

You bet chum it is art. Any fellow who doesn't appreciate fine cooking needs to find his lunch in a dumpster.
If I were looking, sweaty I would ravish you with so much attention, it will make you wet your panties.
My oatmeal would be so good and tasty!
