Some of it goes into a discretionary fund and is given to the local poor. Other money goes to charity, both at home and abroad. Still other money is used for church maintenance and to keep the lights on. Churches, like all other buildings, use electricity and water, and are obligated to keep those bills paid. Some will go for miscellaneous expenses (travel for seminars and other events, a church van, choir robes, etc).

It is not given to the "church leader".
Church Treasurers deposit the funds. The church is responsible for proper bookkeeping just as any other business is.
Monies are spent for the usual stuff such as the mortgage, utilities, building maintenance and janitorial, as well as teaching materials, Hymnals and Bibles, local and worldwide missions, ...daycare programs perhaps. Ours also funds one of the largest food pantries in the state. There's a few salaried positions for the office staff as well as the pastor.
If you see a pastor driving around in a Bentley, that's misappropriation - pure and simple. Ours drives a 17 year old Toyota pickup, but it runs fine and he's OK with that. When it quits then we'll look for something else. Not a Bentley, however.

A lot of the money goes to keeping the church (the building) in good repair, some goes to charity work, some for the parsonage and some to pay the pastor. Church groups function from the money, like youth groups or adult bible study. Most churches keep records to show their expenditures and they usually have a church council that allocates the funds. Some of the money also goes to the higher ups in the church that keep the churches together.
This pertains to the Lutheran Church, I grew up Lutheran, but I'm sure it also pertains to most hometown churches.

The money you give to the church goes for ...the church's building fund...(or if not a new building ...then repairs and upkeep on the current building) electricity, supplies ...like chalices, hymnals and such ....water bill, gas bill, the salary of the minister, the parsonage house and sometimes the utility bills associated with it.

God uses the church for His glory and do His works on earth.
The church uses that $ to do so.
There is actually a lot of cost in holding a church-utilities, overhead, much like a home does.

It is suppose to be used for missions of all kinds and to further the church's appearance and up-keep. That does not mean that is what always happens with money that goes to a church.

It isn't about God needing money. It is about having faith in God, that He will provide for you. Some churches use the money to help less fortunate people, or for church renovations. But really it doesn't matter where the money goes, it is about your faith in God. You are showing Him you have faith that He will provide.

Well why don't you visit the home of your church leader and find out. Ask the maid to bring you a cup of coffee, you paid for it.
