I can tell you that Child Services will not be knocking at your door at midnight. Most of the time, chiild services doesn't respond to a complaint personally at all, unless there is proof of abuse. If there is abuse going on in your home towards you, or your siblings, it may be a good thing they are showing up. Otherwise, I'd say call the child services first, then the police. Did your Mother just break a relationship with your Father, or a boyfriend? Just keep using the peephole in the door.

it may be a forged letter. anything that i have ever gotten from child services had been through resigtered mail. you have to sign for it. furthermore they have to give you time to plan for a meeting they will not usually just call you in the next day. thay have to give some kind of nitice
never open the door after dark for anyone. even if the person is claiming to be a cop. get your mother and if she is not home. tell the person at the door that you need a badge number and that you are going to make a call to the local police department to confirm that they are indeed police. any real cop will waite for you to make a simple call.
if you do end up with a child services appointment it is probally because someone outside of your immediate family made a complaint. if you and your siblings have nothing bad to say about your parents then nothing should happen.

First of all my dear, do what the others have said and do NOT open that door to anyone, call the police immediately. 2nd, I don't know how old you are but this is bigger than something you can handle alone. First off, I am quite sure that Child Welfare or whatever they call it in your state would probably not tell you what was happening, second, this is something that your Mom, another adult relative? friend, someone needs to help you and you need to tell this to your mother. The others who stated that Child Welfare does not make house calls let alone in the middle of the night is right on. It sounds to me that your mother has got to stand up to this right NOW. Do you have another family member that you can call about this if she does nothing? Honey, whatever this is it is not your fault and unfortunately you can't fix it alone..If and I stress if, something is going on in your home that is not good for you and your siblings, like the other man said, you need some help with that also. It may be nothing more than child support, or something like that but you need to know. Try those angles and tell your Mom if you don't like being left at home alone with this going on right now, it is ok to be scared, we all are at some time or another and anyone that says they aren't is not telling you the truth.
Please talk to your Mom Again and if she does not respond call an adult friend or relative that you trust.
My heart and prayers are with you and your family and remember you are never alone.

This should not be anything for you to worry about. Your mom may have asked for some help from child services and doesn't want to discuss it with you. In any case, trust that your mom is taking care of it and have sweet dreams tonight, okay! As for the guys at your door at midnight, who knows? Wrong address? Never answer your door if you don't know who's there.

You could call the police and tell them you've seen some suspicious people in your area and ask them if they could send a extra patrol car through your area for a few days. Your warning bells are going off for a reason--if she actually had an appointment they would have called to remind her or sent the letter through the mail.

First of all make sure that you do not open the door for any one that you don't know. Pray for your mom to get the information for the situation at hand. You are in my prayers.

Maybe they are trying to get personal info, so that they can create a new identity themselves. Looking for social security numbers, addresses, names, maiden names. Where I live some illegals will buy that info for $600.00.

Maybe you should call them to see. I don't understand why they would come in the middle of the night. They usually call first to sit up the appointment.
