I am talking about the die-hard supporters of the Military Commissions Act. I have spoken out against it here, and was told, "The Constitution only protects AMERICANS, not foreigners."

I see the point you are trying to make, Marakey. The torture of Hell is being eternally "stuck" in one's choice to separate oneself from the love of God. Fire is the strongest metaphor Jesus could find to describe it: hell will probably be WORSE than fire. It's the result of a lifetime of turning away from God's advances.

I wish I could disagree with you Marakay. Given the smart alecky, condescending tone with which many Christians on the Internet have "answered" the honest questions of nonChristians, I could imagine some using the reality of God's righteous judgment to justify their own fear-based use of torture.

But I hope you can see from some of the answers above, we're not all that way.

Christ hates man's wars. Christ hates torture.

Soon, the Kingdom of God will bring an end to all of man's governments that justify war and torture.

At that time, all of the surviving earth will bend knee to Jesus, and peace will be forever on the earth.

Many Christians, especially in America, believe that God tortures forever in hell non-Christians and Christians who are not evangelical protestants. If it is acceptable for God to torture people, it must be acceptable for his followers to do so.

I have no problem with torture. These people (terrorists) are trying to kill us and Israelies (who are God's chosen people) and I'm not real excited about letting them get to America and blowing us all up to smithereens. I would say that God is glorified because we have not been hostile to Israel, and look at how America is blessed. We are not a third world country, we are not ruled by communism, and we have the best military in the world. I would say that God is definately glorified if we prevent terrorists from hurting more people.

Jesus would hardly recognize most of what passes for Christianity these days.

It is nearly the exact opposite of what he taught. Maybe its the Antichrist that everyone talks about.

If the constitution doesn't protect everyone it won't be able to protect anyone.

These people who advocate the use of torture against 'enemy combatants' are, in my little opinion, not real Christians, and it is highly offencive when they hide behind what they claim to be their faith in defence of their actions.
