I was wondering if a 1999 Nissan Altima GXE is a good car for a brand new driver. The car has 130K miles on it, and runs smooth. Will this car last me at least 3 years if I take care of it properly????

I am a mechanic and hot rodder, and this is some of my major factor's I look at in a used vehicle for me or family members.Look at it's aftermarket following first, and how many are one the road. The more vehicle's of that model they sell, the more parts are out there. If you can find 15 different aftermarket manufacturer's for any given car, chance's are that part's will be cheap and easy to find.General rule is low production cars have low production maintenance items,so parts will cost you an arm and a leg. Also,it will be easier to resell, cause obviously alot of people want them. Also these will generally be car's that don't cost an arm and a leg to work on,since everybody is modfying them.If you plan to do maintenance work yourself, this helps cause it means lots of DIY instructions.Another good thing to do is go by the local dealership and see how many they have parked around or in the shop.If it's alot, then hmmmm.
The altima is a nice car, though I wouldn't reccommend it for a DIY auto mechanic. For a student,as a driver, that is only going to see reputable mechanic then it is as good as it was taken care of.That car could last you a long time if taken good care of.If it is not very expensive you can have a mechanic look it over prior to buying just to be sure.If you do that, then take it to a Nissan dealer.

Sure it is a good car for a beginner, smaller size, good fuel mileage, and hopefully dependable. It should last another 3 years or more if you take care of it, and fix problems as they happen and not let repairs get out of hand. The thing you want to be careful of, id to make sure that the previous owner took care of the vehicle before you buy it. An inspection from a local repair shop can give you heads up on the current condition of the vehicle.

It's probably a good car for a begining driver, but , that is alot of miles. It might not last another three years, but then again who knows? Before you make the decision, look up the Kelley Blue Book value. Figure that on average a car is driven ten thousand miles a year, which would equal 10 years 100,000 miles. This car has been driven double that.

Assuming it's not a lemon (all manufacturers make lemons) yes.

Any decent car will.

Sure it will. Just keep in mind that things like shocks, brake pads, tires, automatic transmission filter, coolant, and fuel injector filter will need to be replaced.
