Yes, your gum will heal itself. Take good care after by rinsing with warm slat water, it helps after extraction. Brush lightly or not that area and take your prescription if any for antibiotics and you'll be just fine. If you smoke, that will slow down the healing process and may cause other problems.

When I was a kid, I never went to see a dentist coz I was scared of 'em... So I used to extract my own teeth by just pulling it off using some strings... & to answer your question, yes my gum heeled by itself...
