I am blessed to attend a friendly, yet non pressuring church.Yet countless people have told me that while visiting a church, no one was friendly and that some were even hostile. As a result, they never visited that church again.Christians, that should not be!We should extend welcome to everyone as Jesus did and invite them to come as they are.Forgive me for getting on my soapbox, but I just had to gently remind church goers to extend a warm welcome to your guests, even if you don't feel like it.We are called to lead others into the kingdom of God-it isn't all about us or what God can bless us with.We are also called to be a blessing to others. So please, this Sunday, thank the visitors for coming and ask them to come again.

I try to be very friendly to visitors and to take them "under my wing" so to speak. But as far as inviting them to come as they are, that's fine, if they're just going to be visiting. If they want to join, I believe that there has to be a little bit more involved. They should give a testimony of the time they got saved and be living a life that proves it. If they aren't, then it's fine if they visit, but they're not getting any kind of membership. That's just the way it is.

GOD is there to welcome you , and thats` all that matters . If you go to Church for any other reason that to bring Honor & Glory the the Lord , then you are going to church for the wrong reason`s . I f you were Blessed by the service , and the pastor`s message was on the money for what you needed from the Lord , then you had a great day whether or not anyone made you feel otherwise ..An unfriendly person ? Could be the devil trying to ruin your positive experience with the Lord that day ??

We as the church deffinatly need to be friendly and hospitable, though we also need to be bold preaches of the Gospel. The Bible teaches us to be hospitable, welcoming, and humble. But too many Christians see their church as a social club, and don't want to accept new members. News flash- that ain't what the church is for! The church is the body of Christ and you are there to do the work of Christ!

If they have to be told to be nice to people they probably don't belong in the church. 1 non-true believer in church is 1 too many. And as you pointed out, it's not just at your church but it happens at all churches.

YES A CHURCH SHOULD BE FRIENDLY. BUT IF GOD WANTS YOU AT A DIFFERENT CHURCH HE MIGHT LEAD THE PREACHER TO ASK THEM TO ASK GOD WHAT CHURCH TO GO TO. BECAUSE EVERY CHURCH IS DIFFERENT IT MIGHT BE EASIER TO BE LEAD YOU TO THE LORD IF YOU WENT TO A CHURCH WHERE THE PASTOR IS NOT SUCH A STIFF AND DOESNT PRESSURE YOU TO QUIT SMOKING OR QUIT STEALING BUT INSTEAD SLOWLY LET YOU DEVELOPE MORE AND MORE INTO THE WORD OF GOD AND THEY WILL CHANGE. I AGREE IT WOULD BE A WHOLE LOT EASIER IF THE CHURCH WAS NICER TO PEOPLE NEW TO GOD.

Unfortunately churches are filled with worldly people. All those people who are not friendly are in the right place-where they can (or should be able to) learn about Jesus.

yes, i agree with you-and i go to church. i have also heard from people how other people of my same religion are very unwelcoming and judge them because they smoke or wear jewelery or dont dress as nice. I think that everyone needs to learn to be a little bit nicer.

I agree and also find that churches lose potential members by not making newcomers feel welcome. Your church should feel like part of your extended family.
