I just started going to a gym and I'm having a hard time figuring out what equipment would be best for me. I'm 5'6'' and 150lbs. My goal is to lose weight and tone up. It's a big gym so I have a lot available to me. I would love advice from people or let me know what worked for you. Thank you!

30-45 minutes of cardio (pick your favorite machine or alternate)
15-20 minutes of weights (exercising different body parts each time like arms one day, legs another...)
Go 3 to 4 times a week so you don't lose interest and quit.

Great question. Take advantage of the pros on site and ask them to show you what each piece is designed to focus on. Then choose what type of work out routine you want to do. For a beginner, your best bet is to do upper body one day which is one exercise for each body part above the waist, and on the second day work the lower body. Take a rest in between or do some cardio.
Hope this helps.

if you are attending a large gym you should check to see if your membership includes an evaluation by their trainers and then make use of it. they can evaluate you current situation as far as where you are strength, and ability wise and give you the best track to take to achieve your goals and even give you an idea which equipment to use and how much for how long.
If not ck with them for other suggestions, you may even be able to get your doctor to have you evaluated by a physical therapist so you dont hurt yourself
