You don't. You pay it.
Problem? There is a white sign with black lettering and numbers stating the speed in the zone. Going 5 miles over, maybe you could fight it. Hell, even 10 miles over. But 40 miles over the speed limit? Kinda hard to cry foul on that one. It's not faulty equipment, and it isn't a poor judgement. The only one with poor judgement in the situation was you.

Any speed over the posted limit is considered unreasonable and imprudent. Speed limits are set for good conditions and vary downward during rain, snow, sleet, and fog. You may have been clocked by a method other than radar and no patrol car number or radar certification number is necessary on the ticket. A really good lawyer might be able to get it dismissed, but it would cost you more than any fine to even try.

You can go to court and fight it; but when a uniformed police officer arrives and says to the Judge, "He was going 90mph in a 50mph zone," who do you think the Judge will side with??? If you have legitimate evidence that you were not, then present it. Otherwise, it would seem you deserve your punishment. Just pay the ticket since you earned it. (if you fight it and are found guilty you will not be able to take defensive driving!)

you can't! basically some states offer driving school as a way to keep the points off your license... but it's usually up to the officer to give you that option... if he didn't your just stuck paying the ticket or forfeiting your drivers license. You can plead not guilty but unless you have solid proof which is unlikely in this situaion... the judge will almost always side with the officer who wrote the citation.

Just pay the ticket. When you lose your case in traffice court, court costs will be added on in addition to the ticket. Do the smart thing, and save some money too.

Two Choices:
1) Plead Guilty
2) Pretend you are a undercover cop and that you were chasing a bad guy. You didn't want to blow your cover so you took the ticket from the cop and now your department won't pay it. Now you think that you shouldn't have to pay it because you were speeding to make your country a better place to live.

If you don't want the fine, don't do the crime.
Pay the fine, Slow down!
My son was hit by an idiot driving well over the speed limit.
He spent months in the hospitol and will be crippled for life.
I think speeding like that should carry jail time not just a fine!

you can't.... if you take it to court the judge will order you to pay it regardless of anything he/she is automatically going to believe the cop... court is just a formality to make you feel like you are getting justice... I got a speeding ticket when I wasn't speeding, took it to court.. basically it was the cop said I was, I said I wasn't and the judge said OK I'll make her pay it.. plus $60.00 in court costs.. it's not worth it
