My medical office is considering switching from digital transcription equiptment to voice-recognition software. Does anyone have experience with type of software being used versus standard transcription? Any feedback will be appreciated, thanks.

I have never used it, just corrected reports after they have gone through voice recognition. Since we correct the reports, that means the system is not 100% accurate. You will still need to review the reports and make changes. The program works well, after it has developed a good recognition of the dictator's voice. It takes a while, as I am typing doctors who have been on voice recognition for over 2 years and speak very clearly and coherently, and the system will still make errors in what it types out. Not nearly as much now though; when they first started, I had to correct almost the entire report, now it is minimal and mostly correcting misspelling and punctuation.

Just something to keep in mind, because the $$ saved with voice recognition might not be worth it if you still have to correct the reports or pay someone else to. The bonus though is, since they will just be "correcting" the reports, and not actually typing the entire thing, you can pay them less. My company does.
