Microwave. When they turn shiny, stir. Alternately, place in pot and set the pot inside a bigger pot of simmering water.

Put them in a Ziploc bag (freezer-grade or thicker bags work best). Microwave it for 30 seconds at a time, squishing the bag in between to mix up any chocolate that has already melted. When it's all squishable, cut a small piece off the corner of the bag and drizzle the chocolate all over.
It's better to drizzle rather than spread evenly. I've tried spreading it all over and the chocolate makes a "shield" that's very hard to cut through once it's cooled.

2 Cups of chocolate chips with a half a stick of butter in microwave for about 45 seconds or so. Stir quickly, and pour over top of bars. Will harden in about 5 mins, or so. Also good to stir in about a half a cup of peanut butter before melting in microwave, if you like peanut butter!

You need a double boiler so the chips don't burn. Or use a saucepan that is smaller and hold it over a slightly larger one with boiling water until the chips melt. Stir continually!

I would say microwave them very briefly, just enough to melt them, then stir and pour really quickly. That dessert sounds really good!

the best and most fun way to melt chocolate is to put a bunch of chips in your arm pits and wait for them to melt, scrape, put in bowl, repeat until you have sufficient chocolate.
