That is a disgusting law.I've read many cases about this.It's another case of the victim having to jump through the hoops,while the perpetrator just sits back.After all,how many rapists commit their crimes in a place where four men are around to be witnessses?

Because women aren't even "second class citizens." They have no rights.
They don't appreciate women--they fear them and control them by fear.
And I know not all people in Islamic societies feel this way. Some are working for social justice and women's rights.
And in the western world, their are plenty of misogynists and "she asked for it" thinkers.
To address the gentlemen two above me: Being a "bad-mannered" woman shouldn't be reason to go to court. A woman should be able to have sex with whomever she chooses without fear of prosecution (besides in the court of public opinion)--and of course--so should a man.
Also, to Aziz:
These soldiers are evil, horrible men and shame the USA horribly. I feel so sorry for that family and that poor, stalked girl.
I hope these men get the death penalty for rape, torture, and premeditated murder.
Also, who says they are Christian? If you are from the US, you could be just about any religion as the USA is the country founded on religious freedom.
And, if they claim they are Christian, this, of course, wasn't Christian behavior.
BTW: I am not a Christian except in that it is a family tradition.

why do you twists things around? rape is consider to be such an attack against victim, no we don't look at women like its their fault, stop spreading lies. if someone raped a girl in a muslim country, he is a dead meat. the girl is a victim of his crime, we all know that.
about the 4 witness. that's for people who have sex without legal marriage, the punishment cannot be applied to them without 4 trusted witnesses. that's from a mercy of Allah, that he put a hard restriction for someone to get caught, sex out side of marriage is a big sin in Islam, and should not corrupt the society. the punishment is applied to men and women.

It has to be 4 male witnesses. Women have no right to accuse men of anything in an Islamic country, thus only men can accuse another man of rape.

This is a wrong idea....
What you're talking about is when a person accuses a women of having bad manners, in this case he cant have such an accusion against her unless she was seen by four people doing or attempting to do a sexual "thingy"
If the there wasn't four people to witness that, then this person has no right what so ever to call this women a bad mannered women...It's some respect and protection for women, Muslims and non-Muslims alike

it does not apply to rape. the rapist in Islam is put to death.
they get sent to jail for 3 years in your country. IF the girl ever bothers to file a report and IF they are convicted at all.
in Islam, if anyone accuses a chaste woman of a sexual misconduct, the ACCUSER has to provide 4 witnesses to back up his testimony. this is to protect the honor of the woman.
uh... why did the US soldiers in Iraq kill a 14 year old girl father, mother and 5 year old little sister and then rape her and kill her by shooting her in the head and then burning her body to cover the evidence? not very Christian like is it?

because women are treated as property. what is sadder is that no matter what happens she either has to marry the man if he is found guilty which furthers the rape, or be stoned to death for having sex outside marriage! The man is never punished
