run more than you think you are going to have to in a game. then, during the game you dont get tired as fast because you usually run more. if you do lift weights (not suggested), go LIGHT! you dont want to hurt yourself before the season starts.
also just practice dribbling. you can sit in front of the t.v. if you want and just dribble. this will help your ball skills and control while you are on the court. good luck and have fun!!!

Run "egg beaters" yes egg beater you set up four cones in a square and then make another square ten yards away so the cone should be ten yards away from them middle cone then set a cone in the middle of the small sqaure (each cone should be five yards apart for the small square and 15 for the big square). Then run around the smal square check back to the center cone then run to the big cone and run around the big square. And do this like 10 times a day for three weeks before try-outs. It seems easy at first but you can only have a 15sec rest in between each one.
P.S. This should be a full out sprint.

Hey whats up. thats great that your geting into hoops, i played for 10 years all they way through high school and turned down some college ball for baseball. but neways the biggest thing that you can do is eat right. fast food is the worst thing you can put in your body. As far as exercise some sprints along with some distance running always helps. Antoher exercise that is very important is keeping your arms up in a defensive shuffle. your arms need to be conditioned to help with pass deflections. plus coaches really like that. Good luck and hope everything goes good.

Alright. For agility and speed training you should run telephone poles. You can sprint from one telephone pole to another and then jog one telephone pole to another. Do that for about 2 miles. Then you can put your hands up against a wall and cross your right foot beyond the left and just go up onto your tiptoes on your left foot. This helps explosiveness and works on your calf muscle. That helps you jump higher. Also you can jump up about 10 times and slap the backboard. Then rest for a couple minutes and then start jumping again. Another great thing to do is defensive slide. Also wall sits. You put your back straight up against the wall and squat. Hold the position for 2 to 3 minutes. Do that about 3 or 4 times. And last but not least you can do line hops. Go to the basline and stand on one side of the line. Jump back and forth on the line for 3 minutes. Then you would stand on one foot and jump the line and then the other foot. It helps trust me.
