Essentially, Christianity's roots are bound up in early Judaism. Islam's roots could be said to have come from both. Both Christianity and Islam have their godheads, their supreme prophets, and both have sets of rules and proclamations about just what God is and wants...few of which really fit in with modern day. Both have their sets of "miracles", serendipidous coicidence, and magical events. Both insist that their directives came directly from God. Both have groups that insist that God/Allah is tinkering with events and lives to this day. Both have had periods of peace, injustice, enlightenment, and conquest.
Contrasts: Christians think Jesus was God or the Son of God. Muslims disagree, but consider him a prophet. They consider Muhammed their final prophet who delivered God/Allah's Final Word.
The Christian Bible has more direct contradictions in it, but the Quar'an is firmly entrenched in the tribal traditions of the second century. The Christian Bible relies on secondhand accounts of events, while the Quar'an claims to be written down by people who witnessed Mohammed's words and life firsthand. Commandments and traditions are different, methods of worship are different, and inevitably these two faiths clash over and over again in history.
One would think that the only way to resolve these differences was for God to come down and straighten his followers out...but I won't hold my breath.
Simply proclaiming one to be true and the other false will not make it so, whichever side you come down on.

Been a christian since 81. I am reading the Qu'ran. Some christians believe in the docrine of the trinity, others do not even know what it is and some disagree with part of idea. The protion that causes disagreement is the Jesus is God part. My opinion is that we do not have the ability to actually understand the relationship between Jesus and Gosd in an exact way we can express in words.
The Muslims believe their Holy book is a subsequent revelation to the one the Bible represents. That book (the Qu'ran) takes the same view that christians who do not believe Jesus is God have.
Due to the infiltration of and prophets derived from each of the two religious groups merchants have found a way to turn the groups against each other when in fact some of the christians believe the same thing Muslims do with respect to the relationship between God and Jesus. Muslims also have this idea that it is their works (prayers etc) that get them into heaven while most christians believe we are saved through grace and not of our own doing that none might boast.
Aside from those points the two religions are very similar.
So did I do your home work for you or what.

Christianity & Islam are the 2 largest religions in the whole world.
Both are monotheistic & are Abrahamic faiths.
Both are divided into denominations, sects, cults, etc(actually all religions are). The 3 main divisions in Christianity are: Catholic Protestant & Orthodox.
The 2 main divisions in Islam are: Sunni & Shiite.
The Christian Sabbath Day is Sunday. The Muslim Sabbath Day is Friday.
Christians worship in Churches. Muslims worship in Mosques.
The Christian Sacred Scripture is the Holy Bible. The Muslim Sacred Scripture is the Noble Koran.
Christianity was Founded By the Lord Jesus Christ.
Islam was founded by Muhammed.
How do the views of both religions contrast with each other?
As previously mentioned, both are Abrahamic faiths, meaning both claim Abraham for their Father in faith. Christians trace their lineage to Abraham by Isaac(because Jesus Was Jewish), whereas Muslims trace their lineage to Abraham Ishmael. The Holy Bible says it was Isaac whom Abraham tried to sacrifice, whereas the Koran says it was Ishmael whom Abraham tried to sacrifice.
Both Christians & Muslims worship Only One God, but, Muslims think Christians are idolotrous, because Christians believe that although God Is One, He Is A Trinity Of Persons--Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.
Christians believe that the Lord Jesus Christ Is the Son, & the Second Person Of the Blessed Trinity. That is why He Is the Messiah. Although Muslims believe that Jesus Is the Messiah, they do not believe that He Is God Incarnate. Neither do they believe that Muhammed, nor any other Prophet, was God Incarnate.
Inspite of the fact that Muslims believe that Jesus Was the Messiah, & Born of a Virgin, they consider Muhammed to be the greatest of all God's Prophets.
Muslims do not believe that Christ Was Crucified, Died & Rose again. They believe that God Punished Judas Iscariot for betraying Jesus, by making Judas look exactly like Jesus, thereby causing him(Judas)to be crucified instead.
Christians worship Jesus. Muslims venerate Muhammed. However, with the exception of most Protestant denominations & sects, the Virgin Mary is venerated as the Most Holiest Person after Jesus, because Jesus is her Son & Is also God.
That's all that I can think of for now. Good luck with your essay.
I'm Christian too.:-)

Christianity and Islam are not so different from each other. Both began in the Middle East, both are Monotheistic, and Islam sees its self as linked to Christianity. It recognizes all the Old and New Testament texts and prophets, and Muslims recognize Jesus as an important prophet. Moreover, Christians and Muslims all consider themselves children of Abraham. Both religions place great emphasis on piety, kindness, and peace. In essence, they are two spokes on the same wheel, all leading to the center (God) in their own way.

Christianity is based on the Bible as being the complete inerrant word of God.The Bible is a record of events, past present and future. How do we know it is truth? 1. The bible is a prophetic book written by men as inspired by God's Holy Spirit. The Bible is comprised of 66 books written by 40 men. Christianity is the only faith that can make the claim it contains prophecies which have been fulfilled after being forcast 2000 years prior. There are many many prophecies which have been fulfilled to the letter, especially aobut the coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God. The fact Jesus performed the miracles He did, and fact He rose from the dead and walked the earth another 40 days makes Him different than any other. He must have been who He said He was and I can therefore trust and believe Him and what His word says. Islam cannot make any such claims. Islam is based on a god allah which stems from a pegan deity where they worshipped the moon . Muhammed claims he is a prophet, no way , the bible says it is complete in itself for it says "God's Word cannot be added to nor taken away from". Since the Koran was writen 600 years AFTER the Bible one can draw passages from the Bible to authenticate the Koran then add man made nonsense and claim whatever . One just has to read some of the Koran and you soon see it is not by the same author God,Yaweh. Only faith in Jesus Christ can bring one to a saving relationship with God the father. The words of Christ were" Iam the Way the Truth And the Life, No man comes to the father except by me".It is exclusive through Jesus Christ. For He said "neither is there salvation in any other for there is no other name under heaven given to man whereby you must be saved"If there was another way to God then Jesus would not have had to die on the cross for our sins. Hope this helps you.You see God is Holy and when we die we cannot go into His presence in our sinful state, we must be cleansed by the shed blood of Christ then God does not see us in our sins they are gone!

Islam is the final religion from God, summing up Christianity and Judaism. We believe in Jesus, and the Blessed Marry. We might have some disagreements over the Jesus being God's son. We believe that Marry concieved Jesus by God's order, and that He is not God's son, but only a messanger from him...Jesus and Marry's story is told in the Quran in a whole chapter.
The Quran was not written by Mohammed (PBUH). But God ordered him to deliver it to people. If you need anything else, please feel free to email me anytime, and I would be more than happy to assist you in your essay concerning matters of Islam

Islam believes that the bible has been messed with and isn't accurately the word of god. it's been twisted to fit Christianity and Judaism. they believe that the 'Koran' is the final word of god, in a series of revelations written by a man called 'Muhammad.'
though they still believe most of the bible people and stories.
(though they feel Jesus was just a prophet, while Christians think he is the son of/ or is god.

One thing that I learned in a college "World Religions" class that I've never forgotten ... all major religions in the world are based on one primary rule ... and that is our Golden Rule ... do unto others as you would have them do unto you!" Now that sure doesn't seem to be true today, does it?
