Not a simple answer to this one .
If you go back to Genesis . God let the souls that was and will be into the physical universe that God had made. Many entered into the physical objects and enjoyed the sensations so much that they forgot were they came from and that they could leave the objects.and so became stuck in them until the death of the object and their release from it. starting the idea of reincarnation.
with the increase knowledge and religious practices.peoples souls are finding it easier to glimpse something of whats on the other side of life. and wish to escape this ever increasingly complex existence and return to the source of all things.
