I was unaware that God enjoyed smiting. You must be a special superior person to know the mind of God like that. The last I checked is that it is man that likes smiting the other. I bet you would love smiting all the Christians and still feel superior after having done so. :o)

Your question about why God likes smiting is not clear? Do you mean why He did not change bad people into good ones? Do you mean why He asked His people to kill some tribes in the old testament time and took their wives and possessions, and kill some other tribes and all cattles? Do you mean why he allow a woman to turn into salt? Do you mean why he allow an Egyptian king to drawn into the river? Do you mean why he didn't just use his superpower to restore bad things into good things instead of destroying them? Do you ....?

God does not smite. He merely removes the hedge of protection from those who refuse it. He gives you your choice and the natural result is destruction. Without God's protection, we would not be able to survive. Many of those who abuse God's name and cast insults on His followers owe their lives to praying Christian people. The wicked are spared because of the presence of the righteous much like Sodom, as wicked as it was, would have been spared if 10 righteous people were found there by the angels that visited Lot.
