We won't go to war just for the testing.

But, we will get in a scrap if they go after Japan or S. Korea.

Well, who knows, really. So far, North Korea may have the balistic capability to launch a nuclear missile to the US west coast with a Taepodong 2 missile. However, their bomb technology is...questionable. So far, they have not been able to create a large or medium explosion. I think they had a 2 kiloton explosion or something...I forget. In case of the US going to war with N Korea, south koreans are about to get owned. XD. Artillery launched from North Korea can reach the South Korean Capitol in Seoul and level it in 10 minutes, with 1 in every 4 shells loaded with chemical weapons, effectively killing the population. If this happens, the US will almost surely declare war on North korea, as will most of the world. It would really suck if this happened. For now, this crisis may be settled with a bit more of talking and negotiating. North korea may just want to be recognized as a force with some influence rather than wanting to start a nuclear war. You also have to understand that the US is it's enemy. And, if you haven't noticed already, the US is positively bristling with nuclear weapons. North Korea may want a legitamite defense in case of the US firing a missile at them. The North korean state is scared, I guess. I dunno, just my speculation. Still, I really hope war doesn't break out.

Addressing other responses:
North Korea has questionable bomb technology. IF we strike now, they wouldn't have the time to create more nukes. Really, though, nobody should be scared. I'll assure you, North Korea just wants the best for it's country and just because it has an itty bitty bomb does not mean it is going to be used against the US. It's like a little kid throwing a pebble at a gangster with an assault rifle XD
Morgoroth and Ynotaskdo, please check your info again, as THE BOMB was almost a failure. Additionally, Cheech and Ichiro, you disgust me. The rest of the world is only safe because the US is taking care of things.

Well actually, zuff, the military is not easy to "take out" as you put it. They have the 5th largest army int he world. Although they may be using 50 year old tanks while we use F 22's, the sheer manpower of the army, rather much like China's, may overcome many technological difficulties.

Geez, those North Koreans are giving us Southerners a bad name! I've been associated to North Korea about 15 times today at school!

The only way that a war with Korea will happen, is if N. Korea decides to march south.
Following the Korean War, a number of nations that participated in the war signed a treaty agreeing to defend S. Korea from any aggression from the north.

The thing is we will not go to war over the testing, but we might if north Korea declares war on us after the sanctions. They already have said they are considering it an act of war. I wouldn't be to concerned with them. I don't think we would be facing what we are facing in Iraq. Once there military are taken out the war will be over.

Iran on the other hand is much much harder to deal with. Nuclear weapon or no nuclear weapon.

America is too scared to go to war with North Korea. Well its goverment isnt, but the people are. North Korea has the 4th largest army in the world. However, North Koreans are willing to sacrifice 5 of their men, just to kill one american. Psh, american soldiers are a bunch of wimps that panic n cry when just a single soldier dies. Thats not pride for their country. North korea on the other hand, has enough pride for their country, to run blindy into a entire horde. NKPA

No, we will not wage war with N Korea. They have THE BOMB now. They can defend themselves and Kim Jong Il is not above dropping a baby nuke on his own people to take some of our military personnel out. I honestly don't think we'd risk it.

And no, I do not need to give a middle eastern god a chance. I worship the Northern Gods, the gods of my ancestors. However, I do wish you the best in being 'down' with good times and hope you learn to get over your fears.

I think its time to take more of your meds. North Korea has 1 very small bomb, America has thousands bigenough that they could wipe out korea and part of China and Japan with just 1. Do you really think the man is that stupid?

North Korea just wants attention. If they try anything -- ANYTHING -- the entire rest of the world would literally blow them off the face of the earth... and they know that. There would be incredible consequences if they stepped out of line. There's no nuclear threat.

I hope that America doesn't go to war with North Korea because I am in the U.S. Navy and if war breaks out, many of my friends will be endangered.

N. Korea will be up to the next president unless they do something VERY aggressive while Bush is in office. Bush has already spent his political capital going to war in Iraq. It is impractical to engage in 2 different wars in such short of time unless N. Korea forces us to.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom Matthew 24:6,7

Notice Jesus said that these thing would happen but fear not, the end is not yet.

Let not your heart be troubled, Jesus has stated that he will come again.
