the other dog, i didnt know it was sick, we kept them down at my brothers house, which is right beside mine, since we have 2 dogs of our own, and tuesday morning, one of the dogs were dead, and we decided to bring the other one, which is now sick, up to the house. I checked for emergencey vets offices, but could not find any, in fact, there are very few vet offices anywhere around here (Hazard, KY) so one of my relatives works in a vets office, and she too said the dog probably had parvo, she said to give it a vinegrin( i think thats how you spell it) and give the dog gatorade or pedilyte, we had been giving her a eye dropper full of antibiotic today every 2 hours, we just now gave her a half of a vinegrin and a small cup of gatorade, the vet office doesnt open up until 11 am tomorrow, were doing what we can, and we have the dog in towels in a bathroom, so if we can keep her hydrated, and keep her warm, im praying she can make it till the morning when we go to the vet, also ty you

I looked in Yahoo for emergency vets in the Hazard, KY area and found several...obviously you aren't looking hard enough. Take this seriously plz, it's a deadly virus and can't be treated with home remedies. Be responsible, if your child had a deadly virus, would u put it off till the morning?????

My pet died from Parvo and I know how hard it is, you're not helping it by keeping it home

Sounds like you shouldn't own dogs.

This is an emergency. I have NEVER heard of ANYONE being able to home treat parvo and have the animal survive. This dog will be dead within the next 12 hours. I give it 24 MAX if you don't get to an ER to save it.

If your relative didn't advise you of this, then they shouldn't work in a clinic and support home care on such a deadly disease.

BTW - parvo lives in the environment and can infect future dogs brought onto the premises. Some vets say the virus can live indefinitely , some say up to 10 years, 5 years, depends on the vet and their experience, but rest assured, it not going anywhere anytime soon unless you dump bleach water over your entire yard and your entire house inside.

Sorry - I can't stand irresponsible pet owners.

I have a doberman!! He is rather to be outside almost all day!! He has a huge yard! My family has a gardening route and we have expensive tools and trucks from our workers! He has access to come inside but he knows his job is to protect his property from intruders and strangers! That runs in the dobermans blood! It also depends on what type of dog you own! We also have a bichon frise! Who lives indoors but loves the yard as well and helps protect lol! Point is! That if you own a working/sporting/ etc dog who were bred for a purpose other than looking cute should have a job!! And been inside isnt a job. We should always give our pets jobs to keep them from been agressive or others that we can later regret! Also aknowledge that some people have known dogs from been outside pets Back in the days thats how it was The dogs place was outside Now things dont run that way and thats why people see it so wrong! But as long as your dog is happy and healthy with your attention it shouldt be wrong

I watched a dog who was sick with parvo, it was horrible for the poor dog, he was at the vets for a couple of days but they couldn't save him. Get your dog to the vets asap!!!!!!!!

If there is a vets office, they have an emergency number. BY LAW they need to provide emergency medical coverage.

It does not need antibiotics evey two hours!!!!!!!!! THAT can give the dog diarrhea and cause MORE dehydration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just get it to a vet.

Parvovirus is a virus; it doesn't respond to antibiotics. You are working so hard for the dog, I hope he makes it.
