There is a family in our neighborhood that has a man living in the garage. Does anyone know if there are any laws in Texas that say you cannot live in the garage? I know it's possible that a city code could state something like this.
Thanks

Anyway......to any intellegent people out there.....Are there any city codes stating this is illegal? It is an eye sore seeing a man sleeping in a garage and a matress in there. It's very trashy and would like to know if I can report him.

That's right...the government should be creating and enforcing laws that govern what other people do in their own homes...we need more civic minded people like you to keep their neighbors in line...I say, don't just stand there...tell on him.
But, before you do...keep in mind that we don't like that hideous couch of yours...so you better watch your step.

This is a stupid dumb question. Why don't you see what you can do for the man living in the garage. If it bothers you so much give him a room in you house, then he wouldn't be living in a garage. The guy in the garage has probably been through more life hardships than you. Get to know him he could probably teach you something. Just be lucky you have a home to sleep in every night.
To answer you selfish question, a garage is part of a persons property. Unless the occupant of the property trespasses the gentleman in the garage from the property he is doing nothing wrong. If you live in a neighborhood with an association there might be something on the bi-laws. I'm sure the guy in the garage could answer your question, why don't you ask him.
People like you amaze me. You just need someone to pick on, don’t you? Why not pick on the homeless man with nothing who lives in the garage down the street? You are a big man, and should be proud of yourself.
Have some respect for yourself.

Why don't call your local law enforcement agency and ask them. Texas is a big state and, I'm assuming, with different counties. Each county is going to have different local ordinances. Your local law enforcement agency is going to be your best bet getting the right answer.
It is a little fishy for someone to be living in the garage and don't think I'd like it myself, but as long as no illegal activity is taking place there probably isn't anything you can do about it.

Life is WAY to short to worry about somebody living in a garage. Get over your self! You sound like a real snob!

Anybody is allowed to live in a garage. There are worse places than a garage to live.

Why do you give a f#ck?????
If the poor guy is living in somebodies garage I doubt he has a whole lot of options. How does this situation affect you?

Unless he is threatening someone, I don't see the issue. I would say, unless he is registered, or every morning he pinches a schmitty on the lawn, there's nothing anyone can do.
