Well, kids can do lots of things to get active and stuff. Or only have one unhealthy snack a day. And there is another word for losing weight: EXERCISE! And my advice is when people hear what i just said about eating they stop eating completely. Don't stop eating just eat less! And exercise.

Encourage the youngster to play outside, take up a sport or physical hobby, and challenge them to eat healthier. Also try rewards. Think about it, loosing weight is hard work! A child's mind isn't going to cooperate when there is no Emerald City at the end of the Yellow Brick Road.

cut back on all the junk food, keep their calorie intake at about 2000 cals. a day and work out. it doesnt have to be some big deal just take them to a park, play soccor, toss a fresbee around, a good game of tag is always a good idea and there are like tons of feriations on it. with the work outs make them fun and they might not even notice that they are working out.

stop eating chips, candy, soda, fast food .. do that (which is pretty much their whole diet now) and watch them lose tons of weight. Only let them eat healthy- fish, veggies, rice, some pasta, lean meat, juice ( real juice) and lots of water. soups with low sodium are good too.

oh, and less tv, and more playing outside!!!!
