The easiest way is to Marry you if you are a citizen.
Other than that He needs to show that he has lived productively in the US for 10 years. This requires a lot of forms and trips to INS
Either way I recommend getting a immigration Lawyer to help and discuss all the fee's. An immigration Lawyer in New Jersey runs about 500 dollars per application. Immigration costs are a lot more and if not done properly may cost more and definitely cost loss of time.

Fathering an American citizen child does not confer citizenship on the parent, nor any right to stay in the US.
Unless your boyfriend has a separate right to immigration benefits in the US - such as already having had a green card for the necessary number of years, which he can only get through a valid immigrant petition filed by a family member and having a current priority date - he cannot apply for US citizenship.

The constitution says that the person must be a natural born citizen of the US, but does not define what a natural born citizen is. Various cases have been bought before the Supreme Court over this issue, but no comprehensive definition has emerged. So the practical answer for your friend is, run for president and see what happens. As precedent, Roger Calero, who was born in Nicaragua was included in the ballot for President in five states in 2008 and no question over his citizenship was raised.

If you don't plan to get married it really doesn't matter that his child was born here. You'd have to get married in his country and apply for his citizenship as a spouse of a citizen. That is the quickest way, but it is still expensive and not fool proof. They will know he was in this country illegally, you will have to have a court date and file all the paperwork. I suggest you seek a lawyer who knows immigration inside and out.

If you're a US citizen, marry him, and apply for his permanent residence visa (green card). Your child will automatically be a US citizen by birth. Find a good immigration lawyer for a faster process. Go to www.uscis.gov for further details.

This is the govt website, as already mentioned you probably should look to get him lawful perminent residence (Green Card) as I think to become a citizen of the US you have to give up other passports.
I would also recommend getting an immigration lawyer as the forms are complicated & it is a time consuming & expensive process which you want to do right first time. They should also be able to advise you on marital status etc

Um...you're supposed to marry him first and THEN have the child not the other way around. All children deserve to be born in wedlock.
