try to work around them, if not come back at a diffrent time when the dog is indoors or such,

If the dog is not tied up, most Jehovah's Witnesses make some dignified attempt to get the householder's attention from outside the fence. Then they simply phone or write to the householder, and add the household to a 'phone territory'.
Now that home will be on two territories and have twice the opportunity to be worked!
