personally if i really like a girl, im not interested in dating anyone else... but if i like her for a long time and nothing happens, after awhile i lose hope and move on to someone new. maybe thats what happened. you cant expect a guy to wait around forever right?
not all guys are like this... some just want to get laid. even if they like one girl the most, they will still hook up with whatever is available.

There is always a chance that you can still be with him. I still feel however that the best way to show him how you feel is to show interest in his current relationship. Not encourage it but ask about it often. He will get a hint soon enough.

yes, because it happened. i liked a girl for a long lime, but we were really good friends, and i really didn't think she would want to give that up. now i am going out with another girl, but it's so hard because i keep thinking about the other girl. i even want to break up to be with her, but i don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings. just tell him how you feel. it'll probably ease his mind and yours.

yes, thats a possibility. it's just that guys are not going to let a potential date go by waiting for someone that appears to be a no go.

When he stops dating her, perhaps you should approach him and find out.
