Having a candy buffet is a newer trend at weddings. It is a good way to give your guest options instead of the usually jordan almond favors. Using your monogram is another way to put your own personal touch on your big day. Another is lighting...projecting lights, in your wedding colors, onto the walls is a good way to set the tone for the reception. If you you don't like unity candles, because honestly they are a little too "halmark," then try this...have 1 vase 1/2 filled with white sand, another vase 1/2 filled with lack (or any color) sand, and another, bigger one, in the middle that is empty. You and your fiance can pour the sand into the middle vase at the same time and it will mix together, like your 2 lives becoming one...

i just had a very similiar wedding. the parts that stand out as a lot of fun were the dancing and drinks. we had kegs to cut down on cost, but still allow people to have a good time on us. and then we had a fun punch fountain we rented from partytime. it was beautiful andonly 35 dollars. we also got a little chocolate fountain and had strawberries, cherries, and bananas to dip. the best thing we did was get a good dj. she really kept the party going when it started dying down, and everyone there was really impressed with how much fun she made the evening. i also threw a twist on the bouqet throw and had all the married couples dance and then be seated throughout the song based on how many years they had been married until the one who had been the longest got the bouqet and finished the dance alone! very romantic and fun!
the dollar dances are fun too. or you could do dollar trees, where you tape crinkled up dollars on a stripped fake tree and put it somewhere in the reception and others add to it all night till you have a money tree!

The candy buffet sounds great, if you have a certain color in your wedding, you should stick with only that color of candy. For example if your wedding colors were red, you could do licorice, red hots, red jelly beans, big red gum, red M&M's... you get the idea, that is something that would be fun, then you could decorate little bags for people to fill up on....... Try to personalize the bar as much as you can, maybe get the M&M's personalized. Good Luck and Congrats

i think the little touches are the best.. the candy idea is great again if it is done tastefully adult tastes are kept in mind. Also maybe some beautiful ice sculptures at your candy table like a basket with the candy inside or something... personalize as much as you can with your tastes or hobbies or you heritage that will be the most memorable of all people are there to celebrate you so express yourselves!

We went to a wedding on the summer and each center piece was a scene from Cinderella. The parents table was the fairy godmothers table the had this thing like an umbrella with fairy god mothers hanging on them. Our table had a nice wooden clock and at the base it was white shear with lights. Another table had a bird in a next with pearls. It was beautiful.

How bout having seed packets as the seating cards? They would be inexpensive and the guests could take them home, plant them in their gardens, and think of you when the flowers bloom?
If you are in the city, then set the seed packets into little clay pots, and have the guests name painted on the pot on one side, and the brides and grooms name and wedding date on the back.

I think one of the most important keys to this would be....to make sure, all guest's know ..what it is your having...that you guys are casual..and this is what you want.
You say your going to have a candy buffet?...well thats o.k. but
remember....It needs to be a tasteful one. This is not a kids birthday party.
Sooo having said that, you may want to make it...just a little more growen up, so it CAN cater...for adults.
It does sound fun...but you may just need to as I say...think also of your guests. After all, its a once time thing(or well we hope !)
Do it well...all the very best you 2....smiles

You could incorporate ethnic traditions in to your wedding. My husband and I are both from Scottish family's so we added things from our heritage in to the ceremony. Learn a ballroom style dance for your first dance that would be cool.
