Taste buds are located on specific parts of your tongue. The front is sour, the sides are salty, the middle is sour, and the back is bitter.

I think you have taste buds all over the top of your tongue.
At least I do, I taste sweet, sour , hot cold all tastes just by putting food in my mouth. I don't have to put it on any part of my tongue.

Back of tongue is more bitter (like tonic water)
sweet/salty is towards the tip of tongue (like sugar)
Sour is mostly sides and middle (like lemonjuice)

sweet: tip
bitter: back
salty and sour: on each side. i think salt is ontop of sour
