ALLAH — for Muslims the greatest and most inclusive of the Names of God, an Arabic word of rich and varied meaning, denoting the one who is adored in worship, who creates all that exists, who has priority over all creation, who is lofty and hidden, who confounds all human understanding. It is exactly the same word as, in Hebrew, the Jews use for God (eloh), the word which Jesus Christ used in Aramaic when he prayed to God. God has an identical name in Judaism, Christianity and Islam; Allah is the same God worshipped by Muslims, Christians and Jews.
"He is God, the One God,
Independent and Sought by all;
He begets not, nor is He begotten,
and there is none like unto Him.
(The Holy Qur'an Chapter of Sincerity of Faith)

What about these questions someone has asked?
Is it true that 26 chapters of the Quran deal with jihad, a fight able-bodied believers are obligated to join (Surah 2:216), and that the text orders Muslims to "instill terror into the hearts of the unbeliever" and to "smite above their necks" (8:12)?
Is the "test" of loyalty to Allah not good acts or faith in general, but martyrdom that results from fighting unbelievers (47:4) — the only assurance of salvation in Islam (4:74; 9:111)?
Are the sins of any Muslim who becomes a martyr forgiven by the very act of being slain while slaying the unbelievers (4:96)?
And is it really true that martyrs are rewarded with virgins, among other carnal delights, in Paradise (38:51, 55:56; 55:76; 56:22)?
Are those unable to do jihad — such as women or the elderly — required to give "asylum and aid" to those who do fight unbelievers in the cause of Allah (8:74)?
Does Islam advocate expansion by force? And is the final command of jihad, as revealed to Muhammad in the Quran, to conquer the world in the name of Islam (9:29)?

see the same misunderstanding that brought you to ponder this question is the same misunderstanding that led you to word it so incorectly. First it is not just Americans that believe that, lots of people do, because you (being muslim) are stereotyped just like you have stereotyped Americans. I am an American and do not under any circumstance believe that all muslim's are bad. Just like there is no one religion or race that is ALL bad. Of course after 9-11 it did put a bit more focus on the muslim religion, but only on the extremists. Not the calm loving part. Please do not stereotype us. myself and my family and friends do not stereotype the muslims. I hope you can realize that only the bad make headlines because the ones that don't think that, don't do anything to bring attention to ourselves, therefore you never hear about us.
How do you spell check, sorry about all the misspellings, my 15 month old is helping me.

Simple answer: I urge you to stop looking at the crazed fringe group that is present in every race, culture, and religious ideology. Have you ever found Muslims praising the United States for helping to defeat the Soviets? For protecting Saudi Arabia from Iraq during the Gulf War? For helping establish institutions of education and technology all across the Islamic World? Well I am a Muslim, and I just praised the United States for doing those things. I ask you to remember it, pass it on - even write it on a post-it so you remember: "That there are Muslims out there....who are good, nice, and friendly." -Awliya

I don't think about you one way or the other . I'm certainly not afraid of you !
So are you any better than anyone else when you are grouping people
together and making assumptions about them . Or is it that you believe everything you see on TV or read in the papers .
I am a loving , giving , independent person who tries not to be one of those who will be lead like sheep , I was brought up to love all of Gods children . How about you ?

you are sort of right. but each religion claims that they "have it right" and the others are wrong. so if that is the case, it can't be the same God. if they were the same God, then these statements would be true:
1. Jesus is the Messiah
2. Jesus is not the Messiah
3. Jesus is a prophet
obviously they can't all be true.
don't ask us this question. ask the suicide bombers why they claim to be muslim when they obviously can't be by your definition. they will tell you that you are not a muslim because you don't meet their definition.

I understand that not all Muslims are out to get the United States - just the radicals are. The American people have aloud the actions of a few speak for an entire religion. I, as an American myself (and a Christian), understand that this is wrong.
I am not mad at every single Muslim. Just the ones that want me dead...

you know, i have many muslim friends, and i really try to be open minded about religion and such. but 5 years ago, at a very early hour (early for me , i work night shift)
i got a phone call from my dad. he said
" both of your uncles are ok noone inour family was hurt thank god."
to this i replied what the hell are you calling me for at this time of day..."the world trade centers were destroied today. and shortly after they flew a plane into the pentagon."
you see one of my uncles worked at WTC the first building hit.
my other uncle works in the pentagon.
so forgive me if a am a little cautious of what is going on in the middle east, and if i take a defensive pose when approached by someone wearing a full headdress and veil. i try to take each individual as i get to know them but i tend to error on the side of caution.

Because Muslims lie. It is ok for Muslims to lie, even your Allah prescribes it. You know, the means justifies the end.
Sorry bub, the God of Islam is NOT the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Get over it and stop with the hijacking of other religions.

Wrong. Your Allah is NOT the same God worshipped by Christians and Jews.
Christians worships Three Godheads but one God (three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). Your Q'uran denys the Son as God. It says that He was a "prophet."
Your Allah is a false god. The Bible says that "there are no gods besides me."
Islam religion is deceiving you.

perhaps it's because we never hear of Muslims rising to defend the people that extremist are harming and not only that but they don't even condemn them for their actions. All we ever see is violent outbreaks, extremist and pain. I respect the religion and the people but unfortunately little is said to promote a positive view of Muslims. weather that is hipe, selective news or not. Just like some cultures don't like Americans, all they see is politicians not the people.
